Does anyone have any experience with Entrek Knives ?
They have some real nice practical looking blades with nice Micarta handles but they are made of 440C and I just wondered how they stood up to abuse, battoning etc ?
I realise a lot is down to the heat treat so just wondered what Entreks was like ?

Hey Pitdog, I own a sub-hilt shilouette and the thing is a tank. Very robust and sharp. I do a lot of battoning with no problem...overall it's a great knife but you gotta get a better sheath that the one Entrek provide with the blade. The original sheath is crap, Normark made one for me and it's perfect!!! Cheers

I've had two different entrek knives, they were great but the sheaths needed some serious help.

What is wrong with the sheaths? I've heard this complaint every time Entrek comes up, but no one ever gives specifics? Isn't it just a Kydex sheath?
I like the looks of the Badger and the Lynx myself.

My two Entreks have Kydex sheaths, and the fit is great on both.

High quality sheaths; I don't understand what the complaints are about either.

The sheath is just cheap...it's too big for the knife and it's ugly as hell. The knife shake's in it and make's a lot of noise when walking around. If you ever own a Normark you'll understand what High Quality sheath means!!!

Perhaps it's defective?

The sheaths on my two Entreks fit perfectly.
I bought them within the past year; perhaps there were issues with the sheaths prior to that.

(BTW, having plenty of custom Kydex sheaths, I know what a good one is. ;))

I have a Badger and Javalina.

They are terrific, custom quality knives.

Yeah it was the Badger and Javalina that I was looking at, have you given them much hard work or they mainly kept as safe queens ?

I have a Badger and have used and abused it for about 3 years. It sharpens nicely, and holds an edge very well. These are great little knives. Worth every penny. I had problems with my sheath too. It didn't fit tightly into the sheath and had even dropped out a couple of times. I had a quality leather sheath made for it. This is one of my most carried knives. Hope that helps:)

Hi all:
The Javalina is a nice kife. It sharpens up well & fits my hand just right.
A little on the heavy side for a blade this size & yes...the sheath I got with mine was pretty sorry too.

That Ranger band is on there to get it tight enough to hold the knife.
The belt clip was so thin that it broke soon after I got it.
I attached a Tek Loc & now it's better, but I'm still not real happy with it.
Good knife..sheath could use some help.

Wow, I can see from the picture that Entrek has changed their sheaths.

The sheaths on my two knives do not look like the one shown in the post by Cliff Nieporte.

I've not used the Javalina much; not yet anyway.
Just bought it recently.

I have worked the Badger, though, and it's held up really well.
It's a very tough, well made knife.

Ive heard alot of great things about them and considered gettin one for a while but I emailed the owner of the company and discovered they are hollow ground..so I opted for an f1 instead.

I have an Entrek Cobra, that I got a while ago. I'm not big on stainless, but, let me tell you something....that thing cuts and holds an edge like you would not believe. Great HT on the 440C, the best I've seen.
Really lousy sheaths, though. (Get Eric to make you one.:))

They do look like practical knives, and I like 440c just fine, especially when that's the only steel the manufacturer uses; better chance of consistent ht. I've pondered buying one in the past, but have gone with other options instead. If I found a good deal on a used one I'd probably go for it, (can one ever have enough knives? Sheesh!).;)

I fell a little in love with this knife while it was here... Pretty nicely done I'd say...Once of the best Entreks I've handled...

The OEM sheaths are Ok,, however I know after sheathing Alot of them ,upwards of 100-200+ that alot of people like something just a touch better...

Treg...

Surprised I still have those pictures ??
That was well over a year ago I think...

Thanks for the kind words..

I have several---

Knives are great for the $$$--

Sheaths --Well IMHO they are too thin and not in the same league as the knife.

You will be happy with the knife!!!

My buddy used to have an Entrek like the one that Normark posted. I really liked that knife... It seems to me that Entrek is one those manufacturers that quietly makes a very good product and doesn't get a lot of press on the forums (Same could be said about one of my favorite blades: Lakota).
