I have scanned through here off and on several times. I can't recall seeing anything about Entrek knives. Does anyone know much about them? I see that they are all (?) 440C which doesn't bother me much. They look like decent hard-use knives. Are they not that popular for a reason?

Lack of availability is the problem I've had. No one seems to carry their entire line, and tracking down a specific model can be pretty difficult sometimes.

I dont own any of the Entrek knives, but from what I know they are, as you said, decent hard-use knives. Cutlerylover on youtube did I think 3 videos on the Badger, testing it in the field, with food etc. Just search Entrek USA Badger Cutlerylover or something.

EDIT: Heres a link to Part 1

I thank you both for your response! And yes, I figured availability might be a factor. Watching youtube vid now!

I've had a couple different Entreks & like them quite a bit. Yes, they use 440C on all of their models & I believe their particular heat treat works very well.

They're not the most popular knives, but they're a very good combination of quality & a decent, tough stainless steel.

I've had Entrek and found them to be excellent knives. The 440C steel has excellent heat treat; gets sharp and stays sharp. These are simple knives designed and made by Ray Ennis, a well respected custom maker. Nothing fancy, just canvas micarta handles, bead blasted steel, and Kydex carrying system.:)

I had an Entrek Elk ... they are great knives. I traded mine for a different knife with a different blade profile but I aim to get another Entrek someday. the knifecenter was where I got it.

They have been at the last several Blade Shows in Atlanta with a good selection of their knives. Might be worth a trip in June.
Their product designs match my tastes in knives. A lot of their designs remind me of Busses. If I didn't have a potful of Busses I would have accumulated a few Entreks by now.

Ray Ennis has been making knives for years and years...

I remember there was an article about one of his knives in one of the very first Tactical Knives issues, back in 95 or 96.

Passed the test of time.

I own a Subhilt and a Merc , they are both very tought knives and the HT is amazing. I've never had a problem with availability but the sheaths are ridicilous and I would even say an insult...they are very cheap!!!!

I saw one of their folders advertised in Tactical Knife magazine and I was very impressed with the appearance and description of the knife. It's just the kind of folder I like [ don't have the magazine in front of me right now and can't remember the name] it has a 4.5 " blade and possibly because it's "only" made out of 440C was priced at a reasonable 200 dollars.
I just wish Entrek had a Canadian dealer.

They have two new folders. One is a clip point ( Counter Strike MKII) and the other is a spear/drop point ( Strike Force MKII ). Check out this link to the Entrek site, and their new stuff;

The MSRP is $197.50, but I bet it will be lower once it comes out. As said already, the 440C that Entrek does is some fine stuff. Only problem I have with the knife is the clip placement, but I'm sure that STR could take care of that!!:D:thumbup: It lets too much hang out of the pocket. What I really like is that it has steel liners, thinking the outer covers are aluminum, also, the blade is 4.50" X 3/16", and the knife weighs in at 7 ounces. Sounds BIG and Beefy to me.......just my style!!

Entrek is owned by custom maker Ray Ennis. He has been making knives since 1973. I think they are a real bargain in today's market.

I presented a first impression introduction of my ENTREK ELK knife some time ago:

Although I haven't fully tested the ELK in the field yet, I've decided to put it in my bushfire evac kit due to its design, sturdy construction and corrosion resistance.

I also own an ENTREK Silhouette which I must admit is probably the most combat effective blade I own. My only gripe is that the handle feels just a tad short (I have medium sized hands and the hilt ends at the base of my closed hand). The plus side is that it feels very secure because of the sub-hilt design. However, part of me feels that there should at least be 2 inches of blunt steel at the base of the hilt just in case I want to knock my opponent unconscious. The other part acknowledges that this particular knife is purely an offensive attack weapon not really designed for defensive encounters anyway.

I was considering a Cobra and/or Survivor, but decided to get a Bark River SS Bravo 1 instead. While I like the utilitarian design of ENTREK knives, I simply can't resist an old fashioned, well made blade made with natural wood or stag handles.

That sums up the experience I have had as well...great knives, sheaths not so much though. I have also had a Ranger model and Badger, I still have the Subhilt, one day I am going to take it boar hunting with me.
