Hello

We are likely to make a folder, factory production
Here is a prototype with Carbon fiber and Amboyna scales.

I have been asking for comments on different European/Russian forums and have gotten a lot of good feedback and advice. The profile of the final knife will change from the proto. This clip will not be used. It was just one we had available... I know ... it is ugly.

Total length: 175 mm (7")
Weight: 80 g

Blade

Length: 75 mm ( 3")
Thickness: 3 mm
Steel: One or two of these: 440 C, 154 CM, S30V, D2 and Damasteel. I need to get the prices for all steels first.
Grind: Scand zero and Flat
Finish: Satin for Flat grid, and bead blast/satin for the scandi

Frame:
Stainless
Torx 6, 2.5 mm screws
Bronze washers.

Scales:
Can be easily exchanged , four Torx only. No need to unlock the pivot pin.
A wide range of materials. G10, Micarta,, woods, horn, synthetic materials in many different colors.

Comes with black or brown leather pouch

So, if you have a comment, question, advice or a thought about the knife, I am very happy to know. ..once the stamping tools are made it is too late to for me to change anything

Thank you
Dennis

It looks like a nice folder, although personally I don't like liner-locks. If it were a frame lock or back lock I could see getting one.

I love my Enzo fixed blade and would definitely buy an Enzo folder.
Not really crazy about button-on-the-blade openers though.
For one handed openers i prefer the Spyderco style hole and/or a flipper style opening system.

Regarding steels i'd prefer 154 CM, S30V, or Damasteel over D2.
I usually avoid D2.

There is a blade length limitation in Illinois - The blade must be less than 3". Consider 2.9".

You should make the knife out of 440C and G10 to keep the cost down with decent performance and make aftermarket scales and blades for people who want to upgrade. Just a thought. :D I would probably still buy whatever you decide.

Make a small and a large. D2 is good as is about any of the prem. steels. Nice thick lock, nice grippy g10 and we are good to go. I would make it more of a drop point and a high flat grind. Better yet if you made the blade from 01 I bet you couldn't make them fast enough. I'll take one in 01 with a 4" blade! keepem sharp

I like it.

If there was one with carbon fiber scales and damascus blade (flat ground) for a reasonable price I would pick one up.

Would like to see a higher grind line. Like the CF scales. Thumb studs too large for my taste. Since you haven't decided on the pocket clip yet, how about a low rider clip? Best of luck with this new folder.

I like the idea of a scandi folder (I love my BUSSTR from STR) but that one is too blocky for my tastes to be honest. I do like the fact that it is open construction and has options other than the G10 that is seen way too often (color is a good thing).

Thank you for the comments. Have heard about the thumb stud before. It should not be a problem to find another.

"You should make the knife out of 440C and G10 to keep the cost down with decent performance and make aftermarket scales and blades for people who want to upgrade. Just a thought."

That was my initial thought.

"Better yet if you made the blade from 01".
A folder has to be stainless..?

"I like the idea of a scandi folder"

Glad to hear.

"Would like to see a higher grind line"
We need to make it lower, if ground to zero.
But we can make it higher if we put on a second bevel.
There will be both options.

Here is a new clip:

And a new (hopefully improved) profile.

I think we will make A and D, with Flat and Scandi ground blades.
( .. if I can afford making it, we will see..)

Thank you for looking
Dennis

I think it looks cool, and the scandi grind is an amusing choice. But like everybody else, I too have a couple of suggestions... One, is a good-sized "flipper", which can double as a knuckle-guard. This helps to make up for potential (or perceived) instability in a (liner) lock... Secondly, offer one with a thicker blade, 4-6mm... Sorry, it's a sickness, and there doesn't appear to be a cure. Going with 440c (excellent heat-treat and cryo-quenched), to keep costs down is fine. Especially if it means a thicker blade w/ flipper would be possible... :)

I don't see how scandi grind is amusing since I have been thinking of scandi folder. Would be awesome when wandering outdoors but you don't need to carry bigger / fixed blade.
