Thanks to this financial crisis thingy (lost my job recently), I now have more than enough time, but not so much cash. I've always been better at starting projects than finishing them, so I've got lots of stuff laying around... mostly knife-related, naturally :) Yesterday I finally took the time to make a handle for this EnZo Trapper blade I bough like a year ago (~32 eur);

So, here it is, A bit thick handled, but it fits my hand perfectly, which is of course the only thing that matters when making a knife for yourself. I have plenty of leather around, so I'll be making a sheath for this soon.

21 cm/ 8,2", blade length 9 cm / 3,5", the blade is O1 steel with a scandi grind. Handle is made from curly birch, and it's oiled.

I haven't tested this knife properly yet, but so far it seems to be a solid and handy bushcraft knife

OK! You are out of a job! but as your picture shows you have a great skill! Have you thought about getting some blades and putting nice handles on them like yours and selling them. I would love to have one in O1 just like that with those fat grips.

Excellent work. I love the way that the handle pins compliment the birch.

Yep - going to have to get me an EnZo.

All the best,

- Mike

I much like you have several projects just waiting on me.
I have 3 Enzo 01's and 1 D2 Trappers that need handles and sheaths.

After seeing your pics - I think I may be headed out to the garage soon!

Thanks for all the kind comments :) I really like the way this knife turned up... cant wait to get this one in the woods to try some real work with it! The sheath is next on my list, hope it'll be ok too.

Making at least a part of my living by making knives would be a dream come true. Now that I lost my boring, but decently compensated office-job, I have to really think about it. Thanks for the encouragement

Really nice job!

Was it a challenge to sand/shape the scales without scratching the steel all to hell?

Attej, Really nice job on the Enzo, it came out looking great. I don't think the handles look fat, to me they look well balanced with the blade. I've trying to resist making one of these myself, and seeing your photos isn't helping :-)

No, it's pretty easy. Sure with a belt grinder it only takes one wrong move and you get a nice shiny spot in the finish, but I only shaped it roughly with the grinder leaving an extra millimeter or so to work with, and did all the finishing up by hand with sand paper. It did take a few hours more, but like I said, I have more than enough time :)

I've been looking at getting one of the Enzo blades and doing a cord wrapped handle, but then I would still need a sheath. Anyone know where I could pick one up or have one made for a good price?

Nice!

I have an Enzo that is almost a twin of yours, same steel and wood i just contoured/reshaped mine slightly.
IMO the Enzo is just about the most perfect small knife!
I have a few exotic wood slabs here i bought in hopes of putting them on more Enzo's, but lately its getting really hard to find any new Enzo blanks!
