will any 30 or 60 min epoxy be ook to use on a diving knife to secure the thong tubing? IS there something that would work better for securing thong tubing on a dive knife? I could use screws but I would prefer to use thong tubing. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

If you don't trust the glue alone, flare the ends to get a mechanical hold as well. That said, if you are relying on the glue use high quality, slow cure epoxy or one of the high end non-epoxies.

West system epoxy is made for marine environments. My Laminated Kayak is going on about 15 years old, made with West systems, No problems.
There are epoxies that are made specifically for marine repairs, some that will even cure under water. They can be found at most boat yards and marinas. Often they are in some funky colors like blue.
Aucuglass epoxy from Brownell is a good choice. It is very chemically and solvent resistant so salt water should be no problem.
