AARRGH!! Just finished a hunter, and it turned out all right, except for a little bead of epoxy on one side in front of the bolster - must have leaked when clamped, and I missed it. I am usually so careful.

Anybody know a way to soften and remove this ??

Much apprecited.

Mike

Usually you can get that off with an exacto knife, by getting under it and flicking it off. Acetone also helps.

Sharpen a small brass rod and use it as a soft chisel. Being brass, it is harder than your epoxy but softer than you steel.

I haven't tried the exacto knife trick, but I have used a brass rod and also bamboo chopsticks or skewers to scrape off the epoxy.

get a magnafying glass and go outside in the sun. focus the beam onto the epoxy and it should soften enough to flick off. care must be used on wood or any material that could melt.

If you've got a small soldering iron you could use that to heat it a bit as well...

Kinda the same idea, but I have a sharpened antler tine for scraping off epoxy. A soft cloth with some lacquer thinner will remove the residue.
Thanks,
