Given your use of the "jerkit" emoticon I am guessing you have a strong opinion on the matter and a good amount of experience to base that opinion on. For the sake of a quality discussion why not start with what you know? :)

First Steven, Congrats on your General license. Epoxy is used because it's MUCH stronger than any of the contact glues.

edit - Ooops, I see your General was issued in 2012 so you've had it a while. I'd looked on QRZ and it showed a Dec, 2014 date, but for some reason it looks like almost all calls have that date. Seems like they did an update around that time. Ken H>

That emoticon should be changed or deleted from the choices. Way too many people (including me at one time) have thought it was "scratching your chin" face. It actually means something quite different.

As said, there is no comparison in strength.

It can be used but it leaves an unsightly glue line. But if that is not important if applied properly it will make a very strong and flexible bond that will outperform epoxy when it comes to bending or impact especially in the cold.

There is a method to apply it. To get the strongest bond you do not just apply it and put it together with clamps.

That makes so much more sense Stacy! I agree that thing is just trouble. I will assume the OP was scratching his face :)

AVigil I didn't realize that. ..learn something every day. Where can one find this method? Should do some comparative testing :)

Hi Chris - I have not produced any knives yet. I am busy gathering advice and information before attempting any such project. Thanx for your concern regards the emoticon. I was not aware of it's meaning.

Hey mate all good. I'm glad Stacy chimed in there about that emoticon :) I broke my own Cardinal Rule of internet communication; always assume people mean what they say in the nicest possible way. You'll find this place is full of great people who really go out of their way to help new makers and knife newbies. I'm one of the many people who learns something new just about every day here.
