Eraho Hunter - African Blackwood Handle

This one is for a local hunter. He picks it up tomorrow. He really wanted a copper guard so he got one, can't say as I love working with copper though!

Hi Sean, wow! The knife is definitely beautiful. The shape of the blade is neat and clean. I also like that handle a lot. Is there black fiber between the spacers or is that blackwood as well? I really wonder what copper and brass spacers would look like on a desert ironwood handle ...

That looks like it would be a great user - very nice knife.

I'm sure he will be happy and that the knife will see a lot of moose.

Pardon my ignorance, but... why doncha like copper?

Personally, I love the look. The copper, along with the dark wood and leather, gives it a very "earthy" feel. :thumbup:

That is a real eye catcher ! I think he was right on the copper , it looks spectacular with the Blackwood , SS spacer and mosaic pin.
I would think for a user though, after some time that copper would get dinged up pretty easy , so soft...
Otherwise it is beautiful :thumbup:

The black spacers are fiber board not Blackwood.

I find that copper is for lack of a better way to describe it very gummy to work with. It is easily grabbed by a belt, drill bits get caught up and break easily when drilling copper, etc. It also as someone already pointed out scratches and gouges easily. The sheath itself easily scratches the guard just pulling it out of the sheath.

It also tarnishes just by looking at it!

I do like the look of it once done and maybe I'm too inexperienced with it to be making the above comments. Maybe I need to work with it more. All I know is for those that do use it I have alot of respect for their determination.
