Erg. My turn to be miffed at freehanding.

Do you have a very sharp knife on hand. Would be good to place it against your stones so that you can feel the difference in friction of the blade compared to a dull knife.
 
Not sure what to say. I followed advice and filed the burr off on the extra fine stone (1200) grit. I then stropped it on ...something. I think it was a green compound copy paper strop laid flat on a piece of wood. That was this morning and I don't remember what I did anymore. Sigh. Any way, when I got home tonight I did my usual black and green compound stropping. Its popping hair off my arm now. Sure the polish on the bevels look to be slightly uneven but that will be fixed with the next sharpening. Well, not to sure about the evenness of the bevels themselves. Oh well. This isn't meant to be rocket science. I will try the knife out over the next few days to see what happens.
