what knife have you found to have the best ergos? i want a REALLY exceptionally comfortable knife but i havent been in the knife world long. suggestions?

attack the thread!

Gosh for me its a tie between my Benchmade 710-2 (M390 blade steel) and my old style AK-47 for folders. I find the ESEE 3 to be a very comfortable fixed blade along with the ZT 0100 in CPM 3V blade steel.

Spyderco Native & Stretch are great in the hand.
Benchmade 275, the thick handle reduces fatigue very well for me.
ZT 0560 is another comfy handled knife, along with the Kershaw Blur & Shallot.

The Hinderer XM-18 3.5" was made for my hand

Fixed blade winner has to be the spyderco bushcraft. For folders I like the manix 2.

We talking folder here or what?;) EDC? Outdoors? Self defence? I love spydercos for an EDC but they would grind your hands down to a nub trying to shape a Bow and a couple arrows. (except the bushcraft which almost came home with me from bladeshow this year...:D)

Folders or fixed?! Price range?

I will give a +1 on the hinderer and PM2 (maybe slightly over the XM18) but not the military. It's not bad but there is a cut out on the handle for the lock on one side and not on the other and this drive me nuts. I have almost sold it bc of that a few times haha. Never did bc it is a grat knife other than that. I also have to give it up for the ZT0350 and the Sebenza 21 and unumz not far behind as far as ergos.

Best bang for the buck for a new collector is probably the paramilitary 2 or zt 0350. I would go with the PM2....

I've never found the Para 2 or ZT 350 to be comfortable or ergonomic. Most production folders subscribe to the flat bar theory of ergonomics. The ergos are all very well and good in one or 2 dimensions, but I personally feel that a handle ought to be rounded and molded for your hand. After all, your grip isn't rectangular. Why should the handle be?

DDR Gun Hammer has excellent ergos, IMO. It's nice to have a handle that's grippy, yet rounded and sculpted in all three dimensions. 3D machined is a big draw in my book.

Fixed blades, well, there's a lot of great blades out there.

delica 4 is great to me, I think the endura would be even better though I dont own one because I have large hands, if you dont have meaty hands a delica would probably be great.

well, the price range is from like, dirt cheap to 150. im kinda broke so i set a limit, like most people probably do. and im looking for a great all around knife. good sized edc, tactical enough if defense comes into play and kinda stylish

That reminds me, here's another that melts in the hand.
CQC-10 production or custom.

Nothing wrong with that! Many of the knives mention here are within that. But for that I would suggest, like many other the paramilitary 2 can save some money actually. Most will agree you should have one in your collection and it is just an all around good performer. Not the best but really I don't invest in the idea that there is one perfect knife. If I did I wouldn't spend all the money I do collecting, I would just get that one!
