Ergos question

I've been thinking of adding a new blade to rotate with my beloved BK16. I love the ergonomics on my Becker BK16 and was able to handle an ESEE LS and was disappointed in how it fit in my hand. I did handle a Condor bushlore and it felt great and real similar to my BK16.

I was just wondering if you knew of any other knives that would have similar ergos to a BK16 or Condor Bushlore. I am looking for a scandi grind in a 4.5-5.5 inch 1095 or 01 blade and micarta handles. Looking for about $120 or less. Thanks for any input.

I think your budget may be a bit low if your are looking to truly find a great knife. I have nothing against people from the Orient. But I do like blades made by people who earn enough to be happy.

I just bought this a couple hours ago.. I don't know how the ergonomics are. But it was made by people who earn enough to choose what groceries they buy.

I realize I can't get a custom knife at that price point but I think a lot of U.S. of A. manufacturers make knives at the range or close to it. Esee, Becker, Tops, etc

I hear you brotha, I hear you.. I do not want to start a knife nerd argument. The blade I bought wasn't custom. I guess I am new to this category. Newer than maybe you.

Do the knives you listed have S30V or greater steel? I am just curious..

Now you have a Noob trying to lead a Noob.. I should stop now.. :)

Blind leading the blind! LOL

Yeah, those manufacturers make blades in 1095 quite often, the steel I am looking for, or either 01 tool steel. I know $120 budget is not a lot but I am hoping that maybe I just don't know about one that has similar ergonomics.

Very cool..

I just googled Becker and Esser. My bad totally. They are made in "Merica" just as you said. I apologize for the "douchieness". Sounds like if you are thinking more about the ergonomics, then you actually going to USE this thing.

I bought mine for hiking and camping. What are going to use yours for? I am off topic. I promise I will stop. Mods are gonna slap me..

Use is important too! I don't do a lot of hunting but do a LOT of backpacking and camping. Primarily I use them for processing firewood, light carving tasks, cutting cordage, etc.

Consider the g10 scales for Esee - I think you'll find that they make a big difference.
Of course, that raises the cost of the knife; but there is also the option of buying the blade only and pairing it with the scales at a reduced price.

If you really want to go Scandi and 01, the Enzo Trapper is a great option (but smaller than your target of 4.5-5.5")

Yeah.. You don't need some tactical over built piece of camo tard like what is pictured above. And I probably don't either.. For firewood, that G-10 handle is only going to hurt my hand.
