Guys, need help making a decision on this one....which is the better quality? The #22 or #137?

It uses are going to be cleaning game mostly (gutting deer, cleaning squirrels and rabbits) and cutting things in general, making fuzz sticks...cutting slivers for tinder....I already carry a larger knife for bigger chores....

I want carbon steel and a traditional knife as well....

What are their differences? Pros and Cons?

I do not have large hands at all...wide, but not long fingers.....maybe average at best.....maybe....

So which one??

hi there. the frost 137 is one of the real classic mora-knifes. they fit small hands good. the handle of the 22 is just a little bigger, i have small hands so i would prefer the smaller one. just watch out for the ones with red wooden handle the colour will eventually come off.
i think the eriksson knifes are pretty much the same as frosts. the carbon and laminated blades are very sharp but will rust if not maintained but we all know that. i have a carbon kj eriksson right here in my hand, ive had it for 10 years atleast and its still in good condition only some darker spots here and there. these are good allround knives used for literally everything but these days most people get the models with plastic handles and guard. take care

edit: maybe the eriksson knifes have a little better blades but im not really 100% sure my best bet is that they are just the same or very very similar

I got a question for M Wadel... I am thinking of buying the red handle mora and taking the wood handle off and putting another type of handle on.. I am wondering if the tang goes all the way through the handle or if it is a short tang maybe 1/2 a handle or shorter ? I need a full tang for my "new handle"
So do you have any ideal about the tang in the handle size ?
Thanks Jack

I have medium sized hands, and the 22 is a little big for my liking. The number one is a great size, I don't have the 137. The lack of a guard is a concern for me also. The tang on the #1 (red) goes almost all the way through, I think.

They both represent good values, (and though I have never owned either of these particular models) in general I have always preferred Eriksson over Frosts.

If you're going that route, check this out. These are made by Iisakki Järvenpaa and IMO are much nicer for just a few more $$. I'm a big fan of these.

Finnish knife, available in stainless or carbon steel. All different shapes & sizes, all different prices. Look here.

Peace.

jack 142. i think its best to buy a couple of blades and build it the way u like it from the start. the red ones (model1) arent really a favorite i think the quality of the wood is lower compared to the other ones and that little metal ring sometimes comes lose, the sheat is made of thin plastic which is easy to break, leather is better.
i think the #102-207 / #40 is a better choice than #1. but the most versatile knife made has got to be the #511, i really like that one. for precision work the #920 is the king, i love those little blades.

I have big hands, so I like the #22 a bit more. I also like having the stainless option, which I think you don't have with the Frosts.

Performance-wise I think they are about the same.
