I remember that SAS smocks also had about 5 inside pockets including a large back map pocket...Not sure if this is still the case?

A Gore-tex or similar waterproof liner for the issue Smock might be a good idea. Who wants to conduct operations soaking wet?

The current standard issue smocks only a couple of internal pockets. The separate Gortex jacket to use as a liner is available - it is not built in to avoid "noise" problems - plastic coats rustle.

I always thought that being soaking wet was "normal" when you are out in the field?

The current issue flight jackets aren't that great. They aren't that warm and are not well designed. As to what I paid for the TAD jacket, that is debatable.

Ed is talking about the latest issue SAS smocks in DPM camo however, thought you guys might want to see the original WW2 version which is made of windproof,water resistant ventile cotton.
