I just recently picked up an ESEE-3 after having an izula for a few months and loving it. I was looking for something I could use for work and in the woods and the ESEE fits perfectly.

To test out my new blade, I carried it for a day doing what I normally do (I work on a small farm in Michigan) I cut some different bags, some rope, a few weeds and trimmed several vegetables, as well as various other tasks. The knife held up really well in this light work so I decided to see what it could do. When I had a break I took the knife out into the woods behind the fields and used it to cut, or more specifically chop, down a 3'' sapling. I then cut a large piece off the sapling and used it as a baton to baton through some loose branches and other miscellaneous wood I found.

It held up great to this as well and I have no doubt I could count my life on this balde in a survival situation. There was no chipping, hardly any dulling, and even the coating remained intact.

My only question, since I have the desert tan coating, is how do I clean the tree-gunk lines off of it?

Great balde, great company. Plan to be a customer for life, which should be quite a while since I'm only 18 :D

I don't think you can.

I like to leave the left overs on there as character but some of y'all like your knives clean so try a soaking in WD 40 and scrub with a tooth brush.
I've also heard hot soapy water with a good scrubbing.
This isn't an ESEE knife but it IS wearing it's last adventure still,

I don't have safe queens. ALL are users. In fact the one knife I did have that hadn't been used got traded for a user. :D

Put it in the back of the shower, take a shower, dry it off. :D just don't take too long of a shower, I would hate for it to rust.

Glad you liked your knife! It's gonna be a trusted friend!

I'm another that all my knives are users...and I LOVE the scuff marks on all of them...the more the better! :)

so...I don't know how you get it off...except for the folks who seem to be into stripping their esee's....they seem to like it.

I have used the same knife to cut/split wood a lot...
then dress the squirrel or clean the fish...then later cut up my meat and eat it...
I try to remember to wash it off...or at least wipe it on a pants leg. lol! :)
