It should be noted that their will be no RotoBlock on the production models. Mike and I (and many who handled it at SHOT) do not like this feature even though it is a good idea for some.

Out of curiosity, can anyone explain to me how the RotoBlock works. I've tried digging up info on it with no luck.

God bless,
Adam

the roto block turns and locks the frame lock with the knife open you have to turn it to disengage the frame lock.

take it easy

Cricket,

Thanks for the explanation bro. That sounds like a really interesting little mechanism. I can begin to see why it could be undesirable depending on you needs/desires.

God bless,
Adam

It accidentally engages sometimes and pisses me off ;) Also, I'm real worried that under hard use, mud and dirt will cause it to not turn properly which could lead to problems. Ok for 90 percent of people who carry a folder but the 10 percent that get in a nasty environment it could cause problems

So wait a minute.
You guys are taking a feature off of a knife because people might get it dirty and cause said feature to quit working?? Shouldn't you put some sort of warning on the packaging that warns people to not get their knives dirty?
But seriously, I love your dedication to building tools that get used.
Thanks for building a great product guys and I can't wait to get my hands on this new folder.

Jeff,

If it's not going to work well when gunked up I don't want it in my pocket. It's amazing how much lint gets into my EDC knives at times. And that's when conditions are as happy-go-lucky as they can get. Accidental engagement of just about anything I've ever worked with causes me annoyance or anger.

God bless,
Adam

I'm all with you on the removal of the Roto-block if it has that tendency. That could be an issue when your blades all caked up with dirt and mud. Like Jumpmonkey said I have that issue with work tools all the time and it drives me crazy.

Its awsome, can't wait to replace my edc with this. What color is that handle? chocolate? a foliage green would be good ;)

Ahhh, thank you. That was my only misgiving about the ESEE3 folder. With this news, it returns to the top of my most anticipated knives list.

Simple, straightforward knife. No crazy bells or whistles or extra whizzbangs that just get in my way. I am really looking forward to this one.

You guys are really dedicated to serving the people who actually use knifes as serious tools. I am impressed by the products that are coming out of ESEE. Keep it up! I will definitely be purchasing a ESSE 3F...just let me know how much. Oh and make sure mine is lefty. :)

Will the clip be removable without causing issues? I have a clip on my current folder and it is tough on my palm during heavy use. I also am not supposed the carry at work so it would be down in my pocket.

Not a deal breaker, but just would be nice.

That little pointy thing at the end of the knife would be a deal breaker for me. The knife is tip up and it looks like that point wouldn't feel too good when you drag your hand across is reaching into your pocket.

The only sharp part of a knife should be the cutting edge.

Other than that, it looks like a great knife.

The glass breaker? It will be removable.
