I have owned my VG ESEE 3 for 1 year now and I can do nothing but praise the blade. As it rounds out its final days of service, I constantly question my decision to replace it as my edc. But no matter how special it may be to me, I cannot hide my excitement, for in just 2 short days my new Spyderco Paramilitary 2 will be here!

While I begin using my PM2, I will be looking into doing some custom scales for my ESEE. Any suggestions?

Also, how do you guys like the PM2?

Not sure who does scales for the ESEE 3.
Browse around this subforum. This is were Craftsman showcase their services. No doubt you'll find someone who can get it done.

The PM2 is a great blade! Very handy and comfortable to carry and use.

Why does it have to replace the ESEE? One on the belt with one in the pocket!

Here is my 4 that I was working on today. The scales are african black wood. This wood has been unbelievably hard to work with, but the cocobola set that I made previously were a breeze. The blackwood has been pinned, but on the cocobola I just drilled it for screws.

And I'm pretty sure you will get countless people saying the same thing about the pm2. It is a great knife. I absolutely love mine.

Yea, I didn't even bother to look up reviews on the pm2 it was praised by everyone already. The ESEE isn't retired to the cupboard, but to the car kit. It will never be far away.

I will more than likely make the scales myself, I love me some projects! Probably wood, but if I'm feeling crazy with the fiberglass one day I'll make some molds and do an epoxy scale.

The Knife Connection has some nice G10 scales for ESEEs. I bought a set last year for my 4, but I took them off after a month or so because it decided I like the originals better.

It's finally here and I'm in love :D

For survival I'll take my ESEE all day, any day. But I don't think I could compare it to this one for edc. Sharper than my ESEE could ever be.

Light, and small(relatively) just like my LCP!

Umm, I don't believe it could be any more relevant. It is a picture of my new PM2 next to my LCP. Those are my edc items.

Color me confused.

No way that thing could get sharper than MY ESEE 3 :D

Woopsies, my bad. I didn't realize you were the OP. Nor did I remember that the thread was about an incoming PM2 and not solely about rescaling an ESEE:o

Carry on......

No problem. I did do some rough cuts off my orange tree in preparation for the scales. See how it turns out.

Oh and this^^

I can never seem to get my PM2 as sharp as the ESEE 4 I have. I think its the 1095. It likes to take an incredibly sick edge:thumbup:

The 3 is just a super thin little slicer too I can't see many thicker blades of any steel getting as sharp as it will.

NOLIKEIT,
Did you already decide who to order your scales through?

My 3 is sharp and a great cutter, but this pm2 is sharper out of the box than I have ever gotten my 3.
The pm2 feels thinner to me, but I haven't taken out my calipers or anything.

Bottom line is that I love them both, but the spyderco is so light and sturdy it seems to be the perfect edc.

I'm not ordering scales, I'm making them myself. I'm more of a do it yourself person. The wood is rough cut and drying.

Cool! Make sure you post lots of pics when they're done:thumbup:

What wood did you decide to go with?

I'm just using wood from an orange tree and pumelo tree in my back yard. We will see how it goes, the woods look nice so far.
