ESEE-3 vs ESEE-4

i wish Jeff would design a combo of the 4 and 5...i love the 5s shape, but always wish it was a bit more carry friendly, and i think a scaled down version with a 4inch blade would be perfect. keep everything else, the bowdrill socket, the pointed lanyard hole, maybe even the thickness :D

at this point you're real close to describing the Ontario TAK -- which is just about perfect for a field knife. (3/16 thick)

get them both.
Going to end up having both anyway.
The "4" is a nice thick woodscraft knife built TOUGH.
My friend has the RC3 and it is of course a lighter knife ... but he recently upsett me when he
added the new extension scales to his RC3 ... MAKING IT a perfect knife.
Honestly have to say my RC4 is one of the toughest knives I own.
it is the one I would grab if I was headed straight into HELL.

i almost had a TAK in a trade, but the guy fell off the face of the earth apparently...stopped answering emails and pms...but im keeping an eye out for one :D

They're for sale online unless it's a different "new" model or something.

i was trying to trade for one...ive got too many that dont get used as it is. and im currently trying to "thin the herd"

I think I'm gonna keep my eye out for a 4 with sheath used.. I got all the MOLLE attachments with the 3 and they seem to be interchangeble, so that will save a bit there.. I've looked at some of the Ontario knives as well, they seem decent too..
