Just got it in today!

HOLY CRAP!!!!! This thing is PERFECT! Fixed blade needs are officially taken care of for the rest of my life! I still like my cold steels, but this thing puts them to shame! Amazing knife

My camera is not with me now, so ill post pics later.

Seriously, this thing has raised the bar for me. I just love knowing that it will handle everything short of prying open tank hatches, and yet still cut very well. Theres just something about a nearly indestructable (under reasonable use) jack of all trades fixed blade

A lot of people fuss about rust but IME it's really a non issue.

Ya, if you aren't in a rainy\humid coastal environment, then rust prevention is close to a zero effort. Leave the blade coatings on, swipe a little mineral oil on the edge every 6 months or whatever if not in use, and you should be fine.

You can't buy just one ESEE. You'll be forever eyeing the 5, 6, and the junglas. ESEE got this right, it's why they are one of the most popular makers out there.
I use my ESEE 3mil to pry out boar tusks. It has a strong tip

Ok im freaking out...... Ive been handling this knife all day, and now ive started getting strange welts (one on my ear and one just under my right eye). Is it possible to be allergic to linen micarta? or maybe carbon steel???? HELP! I wanna keep this knife!!!

Unlikely, I think the micarta is a plastic polymer. It's also set solid like epoxy so it's not like it's rubbing off in your hands. Wear a dust mask for sanding though, it's not good for your lungs.

Ok but ive never had this happen before today, and ive been touching the knife and my face all day long. I dont know what else would cause it? If it was just one, I would chock it up to a bite of some sort, but two in different places is weird....

Wash the knife with dish soap and douse it in isopropyl. It's very slightly possible it had some chemical residue of some type on it from the factory, but highly unlikely. Did you fondle any hookers today?

There are allergies to plastics but apparently it's rare (googled it). Do a test by rubbing it on the inside of your forearm. If a rash appears then something is affecting you. The skin on your hands is a lot more resistant than other skin areas. I've had poison ivy transfer from my palms to my neck with very little rashes showing up on my hands.

PS: The liner under the micarta will absorb water and expand. Don't douse the handle too long or it will start shifting around. Mine did that, took 3-4 hours to air dry and it mostly set back to the original position. Had to sand a bit here and there to refit it though.

Nope, no hookers

n7titan, thats what I was thinking. My hands have nothing on them, but it seems like where it touched after using it got it transfered to it. Ill do the forearm test. Thanks

Watch - next he's gonna say he cut some weird plant with three leaves on the end in the backyard beforehand... It wouldn't think in a million years it could be the knife.

Haha will do, man. I knew it wasnt from the carbon steel, but it was the only thing that was new to me besides the micarta.

I still dont know what its from, but i tried the forearm test and theres been no change. It must be from something else. :o

BTW AntDog, the only thing i cut with it before i noticed the problem was a big piece of old plum wood that i have been using to test knives for a while now. Never gave me problems before.

Could be, but I highly doubt it mang!

In all seriousness, it was probably something else you got into. I really don't think there is any way it could be the knife.

The good thing is the testing will be fun! Just carry your new knife and use it a lot.... And if it still makes you break out in hives, send it to me for further analysis!
