esee 4 vs becker bk2

Looking for a super tough camping and hiking knife and have pretty much narrowed it down to these two knives. I know for sure i cant go wrong either way from what i have read on these. Im leaning toward the becker due to cost and its literally tank proof, however i do like the fact the esee is a good bit lighter in weight and i can get it in orange which is a plus for me.

Ok guys help me out here im stuck between a rock and a hard place. Normally i would do the smart thing and simply buy them both however current funds wont allow so help me out here fellas.

I think the ESEE 4 is all you would need. I have a 3, and the blade stock is much thinner than the 4. Have you looked at the ESEE 6, or the Laser Strike? I know Laser Strike is a cheesy name; But it was my first ESEE, and I think it is the best all around camp knife.

And again, I've seen their work recommended many times on BladeForums, which is why I didn't think twice. Your advice to check GBU every time I mention (mention, not recommend) a maker, a dealer, or anything else is just not practical.

First of all it isn't a "their" or "they", it is a he, his name is Eli and he has been banned from here for screwing people over.

Second, monkey see monkey do is how bad business gets passed on. You recommended a product you don't own, by a person you have never done business with, who is a verified scum bag based on his dealings here on this forum. Yes, if you recommend something here you should have more evidence about it than hear say. You recommended something based on what other folks said. Sorry it bit you in the butt. Accept it.

There's really no reason to be so condescending about things - inform rather than criticize.

I am not being condescending. I am warning other people against your terrible recommendation. Hopefully you and other people learn somthing about recommending stuff. Have actual experience with what you recommend. If you can't do that, at least review the feedback section of the forum of which you are posting on.

And this still has nothing to do with being a necrothread - this exchange has nothing to do with the OP and everything to do with a recent question about something as generic as a dangler attachment. But seeing as how I've apparently sinned against BladeForums by trying to help another member,I'll leave this thread now before it gets even more derailed.

By helping you mean recommending a maker who has screwed people over so much that he has been banned here, you don't have any actual experience with said maker, and you recommended him based on hear say. Just to be clear about what actually happened.

I'm sorry for bringing back an old thread. I thought it was better to not start a new one unless I had to. In the future I will.

Jeez, still going on? Fine. Look, they're a "they". They're also a "he". What you're saying is so pedantic I really don't know what to say, other than that it's not even correct.

Also, what's funny is that you take exception to me using "they", but then you refer to them as an "it". A little ironic, don't you think?

They asked where to be able to find something. They didn't ask for a review on something from people who have had experience with it. They simply asked where to be able to find it, so I gave a legitimate answer.

Also, can you point out where I recommend their work? I'd love to see you actually quote the text. I simply found where they could buy it, I said nothing about their work or their business practices. In fact, the only recommendation I gave was how to make it themselves instead of buying one. So if you can specifically quote this supposed recommendation, I'd appreciate it.

I'd sooner just leave it be, like I mentioned, but if you continue making things up, I have to address them.

Not really your fault... if you had started a new thread about it, they'd probably complain about you not using the search function.

Blah...

I've said what I've said. I quoted your original post where you recommend a person who has been banned. Sorry, but that is plain and simple. If anyone gives a hoot, they can re-read this thread. Folks, do your self a favor and do some research in the GB&U before you take off the cuff recommendations.

And yet again, it wasn't a recommendation. If it were, you'd have quoted it.

I will always recommend the ESEE, the sheath alone makes it worth it....BUT, if a fella was dead set on the Beckers, id buy the BK10 long before the 2. I own them both (have had my Camillus BK2 for well over a decade), but the 10 is a more useful knife. just my .02

Well ooookay pal. Think whatever you want. I did quote it and you did provide a link to an item for sale from a banned member. Continuing to argue about this is futile. But if you want I'm here all week.

And I agree about the sheath with esee. They are great. Imo a bad sheath makes a great knife not so good.
