ESEE 4 vs Demko Armiger 4

What does your friend want to do with the knife? Is he a hunter? Will he be doing "bushcraft"? Does he want a edc fixed blade to carry IWB? Is he going to carry this into battle?

I have an ESEE 4 in 1095 and an Armiger Tanto. If he's intending to hunt, baton, build shelters, etc then I'd say the ESEE 4. If he wants a more general use, utility type knife that's a bit more pokey, then Armiger (I generally dislike tantos, but that's just personal). I prefer 80CRV2 to 1095 for reasons stated above but find both equally easy to sharpen and maintain.

As for the sheath, take it or leave it for either, but I suppose I'd take kydex over FRN (my ESEE came with kydex). Maintenance for either is practically irrelevant unless you intend to cut lots of tar/pitch/sap.

Both are good knives, either will be fine for reasonable, general use.
