ESEE-4 vs KABAR BECKER CREWMAN (BK10)?

AntDog, I often respond to his threads and the other guy that posts similar threads. I asked the same question..... make a decision.... well if you look up a ways in this thread, JDX said he is going to buy the BK-10. I think he'll like it for a general everything camp and woods knife. The discussions since then have commented on the fact that the ESEE 4 (merits of) and comparison with the BK-10 or BK-2. I personally prefer a 4-5" knife and the BK-10 fits that mold pretty well. But it is no chopper, BUT he wasn't looking for a chopper.

I did seem to have missed that, man. It's like an every day thing with this guy.... Just asking over and over about the same 2 or 3 knives. Time to chit or get off the pot IMO.

Hey JDX, when you buy something post pics if you can. Good luck with whatever you choose, but choose something....

Comparing two knives with significant differences is all well and good - it gives us a chance to state OUR preferences, which may not mean jack to the person asking. Personally, the BK10 doesn't appeal to me all that much. I've got the BK2, but, as the picture showed, I've never used it. I've used my Esee 4 - I like it, but the handle is a bit small for my taste. I like the BK16 quite a bit - the one pictured was new, but I've got a couple of them. I also have several other knives with 3.5-5 inch blades that I use regularly.
I don't particularly subscribe to idea of one knife for everything; and have no qualms about bringing a second knife into the field. Want/need something a little bigger that can still easily manage the fine stuff? Esee 6. Bigger? BK7. A midsize knife with the oomph to chop? MBB M8 (7.5 inch blade).

Sorry - I strayed from the original question.
BK10 vs ESEE 4? I'll take the Ratmandu, thanks

You got it, and here's my prerequisite photo!

BUT, if he's been hemming and hawing over the same $60 - $90 blades, I don't think he's willing to shell out $180 or so.....

Nice!

Really shows just how smooth and refined the Ratmandu is.... And how "clunky" the BK2 is.

Awesome shot!

Feel free to mod your scales, this is my bk2 with near mirror polish and round ball bit in a dremel for the scales. No hot spots and grippy as hell wet, cold or anything else I have encountered...

How did you take off the black finish and put on a mirror finish?!

A paint stripper for the finish, then a sanding disk in a drill from 400 to 1600 grit then 2k grit by hand.

Keep a bucket of water close by to keep it cool and Go Slow!

Great.. This guy has the whole knife world opening before him... We're gonna be seeing these posts forever..

Lol JK.
JDX, go check maintenance, tinkering, and embellishments. Lots for good stuff in there. Also use the search function (try single search, titles only)
There are many people who've asked about the same knives you have.

We don't mind helping people out, it just gets frustrating when the questions don't evolve past "which is best?"
Especially since "best" has been debunked in your other posts.
