The company I work for sells CNC machine tools and I work in engineering. Our common reply when people ask obvious questions about machine usage is RTFM (read the f'ing manual).

the divot works well , I get close to a fire but I peter out before "Flame on Mode"

I've tried mine once. The divot on the 5 worked great. My ability to make fire that way...well, I suppose it would have worked....eventually!

After awhile with the bow,I just grew impatient and gave my tinder a quick hit from the firesteel -which worked like always -
and decided I'd try the fire bow again some time.....of course, I haven't. lol!

I should have known better

We used RTFM quite often in IT as well. And that most problems were operator induced errors, aka operator error.
Then again, "Instructions? We don't need no stinking instructions!"
