ESEE 6 belt carry

Hey all. I'm in need of some assistance for rigging up a system to carry my ESEE 6 on my belt. I like it to ride so the top of the handle is just below my waist. I tried horizontal just a minute ago and I felt like I was going to end up stabbing myself in the kidney.

I have paracord a plenty to try and rig something up but because the point of balance is above the holes in the sheath, the knife would flip over with the method I tried, basically a parcord loop hung just by the pommel.

The available clip plate seems like a good solution but I'm not going to pay out another 20 dollars just so I can comfortably carry my 100 dollar knife on my belt.

So, anybody got any solutions? I'm thinking about using some scrap metal and a clip from a tape measure to rig something up, but maybe you guys know of a better way.

The best option is to get the molle back....

other then that your on your own

Yeah like I said, I really like the ESEE products and I like the service and I like the people but 20-45 bucks just to hang a knife on my belt isn't happening in this lifetime. I've spent enough on the knives.

Not bombproof, but has worked damn good for me over the last few months. I think it was Cricketdave that turned me onto this sheath. Only thing I did was pull out the insert to form it to my blade a bit better, and put actual paracord on it instead of the shoelace-like cordage that came with it.

i braided some paracord into two longs traps. then i folded them back on them selves and lashed them to the sheath via the attachment holes. they start at the bottom of the sheath and then end up folding back on themselves and connecting about an inch or two above that. worked for me and created a nice drop down. hope that helps

Couple ways I do the 6. Clip plate doesnt work for me. great on the 4 and 5, gets in the way of my thumbbreak on the 6.

For a high ride, I HIGHLY, recommend the tek-lok. There's no better way. The molle back with the drop removed is an option here, but silly if you're just going on a belt.

Personally, mine both ride in full molleback rigs at the moment.

I made this one for my six just playing around with some leather and a piece of kydex.

Some Ace Hardware stores sell webbing by the foot you could make a drop loop out of. Just screw it to the sheath. Or, since it is the season, some stores (even Wal-Mart at one time) sells replacement webbing for lawn chairs. Or a piece of leather would make a nice drop loop like Martin Swinkels does. Get creative!

Or find a Spec-Ops sheath on sale. The belt clip back works, too.

Horndog, that's what my original post was in reference to, but it got edited due to a direct link to a vendor not supported by BF. So, to re-reference without a link, but the OP can use some google-fu, Texashuntco has a sheath that is amazingly well-made for the price, and it is a variation of the Specops sheath, from my understanding. Overall, your best option is the ESEE molle back system or a completely custom offering, I consider my Texashuntco/Specops sheath a temporary solution until I can get the ESEE offering, but it'll definitely do and serve well for years with a VERY competitive price tag.

The molded sheath with the paracord just rides too high on the belt for me to draw it well. Of course, I am old and fat, too. I can do up to a 5" blade on the high ride, but not beyond that without drawing with a hammer grip. The belt clip works, but I use mine on my Maxpedition Jumbo. The Spec-ops rides really well on my belt, as I'm sure the new molle back does.

I just made one out of an old belt I had laying around, and mounted it to the standard sheath with the bolts from the included molle locks. Some one suggested seat belt material, and that would work just as well. I will post pics tmrw. To keep it from moving around i think i will add some paracord that can wrap around my leg. Very similar to a drop down holster rig.

It may be worth to spend the 20-45 bucks on a sheath you like, rather than jerry rig something up and have to replace the whole knife when it falls off somewhere in the woods.

Just a thought.

Or, I guess you could just carry it around in your teeth or something.

I am always sensitive to prices, especially in these hard times. But the use and enjoyability of a good fixed blade is worth investing in a sheath you like. Often times, the knife I choose to carry has as much to do with the sheath as it does the knife.

Well said, that's why the ESEE-4 is so often my woods companion. Love the sheath system.
