ESEE Advanced Modular Fire Kit

You know I think I agree with your point. Cheap tools that fall apart in my hands when I try to use them drive me nuts. Did you ever get asked to put a piece of furniture together at the home of a significant other who doesn't value decent quality tools as much as you do? I have. Every darned tool she had attached to a key chain! Agh!

Never had that particular experience, but in my younger days I worked for a rent to own company. I did delivery and set up, as well as maintenance calls. I think they bought every tool they owned at the big lots next door. After a few times of their crappy tools crapping out on me and the list of comments from the customers, I started buying my own. I hit pawn shops (I was making just over minimum wage in 1989...$7.00 ph) and finding as good of prices I could find on used high quality tools that I didn't already own wrench and ratchet sets, screw drivers, allen wrenches, nut drivers and what have you, and brought my own drills and saws. The manager and I had more than one argument about my unwillingness to loan them out to other guys. When the unusually rainy winter was over I decided the insurance and benefits weren't worth the low pay and constant arguing...and started sub-contracting trim jobs. Their poor understanding of economics, business development, and public relations proved their undoing. Within a year after that they went from having seven stores in the area to no longer existing.
