This is a great foundation for a serious survival kit. This will be in my car from now on. I've listed the contents of the standard kit and then everything I've added.

All components are top quality. The first aid kit is very extensive and I felt no need to add anything to it.

I bought this in part because it stated the bag had room to add a few items. I was amazed at how much I was able to add. It is full now but it still easily zips open and closed. I did add the shoulder strap to the bag as it did not include one.

Total weight without water = 8lbs. 14ozs.

Glad to see someone posting this. I just mentioned this kit a couple weeks ago about how good it looked. Seems like a heck of a deal on alot of gear to me. Nice.

It is a great deal. I priced out the stock components and there was no way I could beat the price.

You know, I've browsed at those a few times but never really looked at them hard. For $217, I agree, I don't think you could put that kit together.

I'd find some way to secure it if you will be keeping it in a vehicle. That's a lot of nice swag for someone to nick. Nice looking kit though.

Which version of the -6 comes in the kit? Is it available from dealers or must we buy direct? I am looking to buy my first ESEE knife and this seems to be a great way to start.

I would like to know as well, this looks like a great addition!

My kit came with the ESEE 6 plain edge. Not sure if the serrated version is an option. I wanted the plain edge, but didn't specify that.

These are sold direct from ESEE.

Nice additions to an already great pack..

wool socks are a nice addition in the winter !!

Actually the socks and the watch cap are going to be part of the kit year round.

The only thing I'll remove in the spring is the balaclava. The balaclava will be replaced by a pair of ESEE panties for warm weather wear. :D

I still keep a GHB/GOOD/BOB/bag with crap I'll probably never use etc. in my car as well, but now I can easily adjust that bag to fit the seasons and keep all my survival gear in this one kit.

Great kit,

I would remove the Petzl as they just dont throw enough light.
I use a FENIX headband with 2 FENIX LD20s attached...gives you 360 lumens in any direction!

I love they chose the 6 for the kit. That kit is great the way it comes or easily modified for specific location. Nothing in that kit needs to be taken out or swapped though, great items.

i'd put a black garbage bag inside it to wrap the whole thing in once you're moving on foot with it. that red just screams, "look at me! i have supplies! come take it away from me!" to the sheeple when disaster hits.

edit: whoops. you do have a trash bag listed.

Yup, contractor trash bag is in the kit.;)

You make a great point though, and that's a great idea to put everything into the garbage bag when in urban areas. Although my G19 should help the sheeple decide if they want to try and take it away or not. :D

Very cool, glad to see they are in stock! I remember the topic came up several months ago, and at the time the ESEE web site stated "estimated delivery November 15th" but didn't say which year. I couldn't tell if is was something they used to have but didn't any more, or if it was a new product. I kept checking back, even into December, and it still had same delivery date. Now I have purchased an ESEE 6, but what the heck, I can always use another one, right? :D

It does look like a very good all-around kit.
