Anyone have any experience with either of these two dealers?
(In terms of customer service, prices, which specific ESEE knives they carry)

Beckwith’s Blades
17356-A Northwest Freeway

Spectre Firearms
10801 Spring Cypress Rd. 14

Their websites aren't very helpful, and I'm trying to determine whether they're worth the 40 min drive out there...

I don't have experience w/ Beckwith. Capt R does.

I KNOW Spectre is out of stock right now. I love the guys in that shop though. Nice owner, nice employees. Top notch when it comes to guns and knives.

What are you looking for? I live near Spectre. I could meet you there and bring my knives if there is something you want to see.

I'm somewhat curious about these dealers as well.

Beckwith's Blades seems to be pricing damn near MSRP, which is nuts. I don't know about Spectre, but I don't expect much difference.

I think they might be good places to check out knives, but those folks probably have some ridiculous overhead that they're passing on to you. It's Houston we're talking about here. They might be alright on the customer service front, but I'm damn skeptical of those LE/tactical type retailers.

Beckwith usually has most of the ESEE line in stock, but they are pricey. They just got a new store not too long ago. If you dont mind paying a little more, it would be worth the trip.

I don't want to tell you where to buy, but I have had experience at both. Ended up buying at Spectre. They have always been friendly and I had already purchased ammo there in the past. They are higher than online. I have also purchased online. The folks at Beckwith seemed knowledgable, but they knew it. I also think they were dishonest with me (long story). You could have a different experience. I do have to say it would be really hard or me to pay $100 more for an ESEE 5 at Beckwith versus online.

It's tough because you want to handle the knives before buying and it is reasonable to pay a little more at a brick and mortar, but not $250 versus $150 for a 5.

good luck

You can always expect to pay a little more for a knife in a retail store than online. The retail stores have costs that the online deals either don't have or don't have as much of. Also with there being no tax on internet sales that's a MASSIVE downside on the retail side, especially on larger purchases and a lot of companies offer free shipping or it's very cheap. But the thing you do get is the ability to handle the product before you spend your hard earned money on it, which is a huge plus! Also most of the dealers that sell the products know quite a bit about them and can answer all your questions while your right there in the store.

Why is Spectre out of stock? They have nothing open with us right now that I know of. Can't sell knives unless you have them :)

I've been to beckwith's old store, seemed nice enough, but prices were too high for me to purchase anything.

Thanks Shotty,

Everyone was running behind on stock this year. They failed to order enough for the Christmas rush. Anyway, when you find out let us know and we'll push from this end.

Much thanks.

I went to Beckwith’s Blades this weekend. I drove to their old store, to find out they closed. They're now open on 290 & Jones road.
They were selling the ESEE-3P-MB for around $160. Too much for me. Dale sells them for $93.
Sucks that I can not support local company's. I would support them if they had good prices.

WOW, now that's a massive price difference! I don't blame you at all for not buying there. That sucks when you can't support your local business.
