ESEE forum closed... bummer.

Explain to me how logic has anything to do with what you have posted. I'm sorry it does not to a reasonable person and I have learned over the years that taking the time to placate unreasonable people is better spent elsewhere.

well that's what Aristotle would have called trolling. you can look it up under circular argument.

but why don't we just agree that time is precious and leave it at that? ;)

Thanks for the support, guys.

Remember, don't drink the Kool-Aid. ;) :D

Maybe y'all should add this one to the smiley list for all of us koolaid drinkers :P

Ugh registration is disabled on the new forum - is there something I'm missing?

EDIT - I'm a moron. Figured it out.

before you guys go to making assumptions about how and why things happen you need to know all the facts.

Unless you were part of the moderating staff for the ESEE Forum, Bladeforums or the new ESEE Forum, you probably are not in possession of them all.

Jeff and Mike had been considering a possible move of venue for some time based upon a variety of reasons which are pertinent to both their forum and business model.

The fact that there was a dispute here in terms of how a couple of threads were moderated just helped bring that issue to a head somewhat quicker.

In a community of this size there are going to be occasional disputes and spats. It happens and we move on.

Jeff and Mike decided it was in the best interest of ESEE to have their own site which could be run their way. I can't see how anybody can have any issues over them making an autonomous decision.

Many of us worked long hours behind the scenes to try to come up with a resolution that would work for everyone.

Spark was open to listening to various points of view (I know because I was discussing them with him), as were Jeff and Mike and the ESEE crew. In the end everyone had to do what they thought best for their overall communities.

Was I sorry to see ESEE leave? Yes. I worked hard to keep them here.
Yet I am registered at their new site and a moderator there as well.

Does that impact my allegiance to this site? Not in the least. Bladeforums is (in my admittedly biased view) the best site of its kind on the internet.

Spark and my fellow mods do a great job. Sometimes we get it wrong. That said we put in countless hours trying to make this place the best that we know how.

Support these forums by making it the best place it can be. Sign up at the new ESEE forum and do the same.

There is no conflict of interest. Life is short. Enjoy them both. Just let's have a little less sniping if you please.

Well said

Isn't this what happened with the Strider forum, in a nutshell? Wanting complete control over their sub-forum, and then leaving when they couldn't get it?

No.

There was more to it. Use the search function.

Why would it matter at this juncture and do we really need to open up a brand new box of Wheaties so we can start pissing in 'em?

(Of course if it was a rhetorical question, and I never put anything past a teacher, well...never mind. ;))
Rhetorical.... ???? Somewhat I guess. And in this case of ESEE & BF, as far as I can see it matters not one bit. Decisions by both parties have been made and that is that. :)

I was mildly curious as to the answer though, so I tried to ask in a mild, non-combative way.

Personally, I find it comical when people at large are 'negatively' lumped into a group by words such as "clique", "fan boy", "cult", etc., etc.; simply because of their knife preferences & likes. I wondered about the use of the word in this case.... simple as that. :)

I like ESEE, CRK, Benchmade, Spyderco, and a whole lot of others... customs included. Probably most of the others here on BF do also. To me it seems those words of description are many times used as a thinly veiled "e-punch" toward an individual or group just because they like a certain brand of knife. The negative use of the words at large just amuse me. ;)

I am not saying this was the case here... I don't know.

Yeah, I agree; I wouldn't put much past a "teacher" either. Heck, I wouldn't put much past 98% of the rest of the population either.... ;)

Can't argue with your train of thought or the potential conclusions derived therefrom, teach.

It takes all kinds. All we can do here is hope to rely upon the character of our membership and step in when need be.

not all fan boys consider the term a pejorative. Hang out in some of 'those' sub forums if you doubt me.

It's all good Blues.....
I think you all do excellent work with a hard job.
At least I have always been treated fairly. When I did get "dinged"... I deserved it. :)

Hey, I totally agree. I was looking at it more from the intent of the "speaker". [Again, not just relating to this instance. :)..]

Nothing trolling at all.

Just facts on what you posted and that your first conclusions were not based on logic.

Look it up youself.

Why don't we just agree that your initial conclusion was just a trolling gripe had nothing to do with reality then you started grabbing straws.

If you need a definition of trolling you should also look at your posts here. Also look up the definition of nourish.

I do not think it is wise to bring up Aristotle discussions with a full blooded Greek unless you actually know what you are talking about.

I just stopped by Jeff's trailer, to see if he was ok. Grass is seriously overgrown, half empty lucky lager bottle on the step. One of the tires flat on the trailer and the door swinging open from the wind. Could he be off the wagon again? I sure hope not!

I'm sorry to see the ESEE forum go,but I don't think it is in any way Ken C's fault. After all he was just doing his job.

I've seen the same complaint in other subs,ie:"Just let us moderate out own forum & stay out of it".Well SUPER-MODS are charge of moderating the ENTIRE forum. That means every sub-forum guys.

Ken does come across as condescending & sometimes flat out rude at times, but as far as his moderating goes,I feel it's top notch.
IMO,I think all the Super-Mods could learn a lot from the way Esav does his job.

Anyway,That's my .02

I wish ESEE all the best with their business endeavors.

 +1 I also think ESEE sub-forum had their own little "click" of mods. Abused the moderator privledges given them. Also, if you didn't follow like sheep, they didn't like you. That's my opinion. Bladeforums won't suffer. There are some awesome knifemakers here with great products.
