Esee. HELP ME PICK ONE!!!

Mora Robust and an Estwing Hatchet rarely disappoint.
If you're looking at a "pairing" then the options are infinite.

I use the 4 for day hikes.. It's perfect. But for heavy wood processing, the 6.... Or, ya know.. The Junglas. :)

Yup I agree with everyone who say get the 6 even though I don't own one but I own the 4 and its a great knife for day trip and I did process some wood for cooking it was a work out ill be getting the 6 for my next camping tip ill take my 4 for cooking and some minor wood work .

I was wondering why they never followed up on the RAT7 when they went with a different manufacturer???

I never found out the details of how the legal disputes with Ontario worked out in the end, but I do recall seeing some advertising for the Ontario RAT-7 that suggested they claimed it was designed by Ontario. I'd imagine RAT/ESEE might have gotten burned on the legal details in their contract. Anyone know the details ?

On the other hand, the difference between the ESEE6 and the RAT7 is only a half inch, which is mostly up at the tip of the knife. It's more of a sleeker visual effect than performance.

Good move on the 6. The 5 is a fantastic knife but it is just not a woods knife. The 6 or the 4 are where it's at in the woods. Also the Laser Strike.

For what you're describing, you are right to go with the six. The grind warrants to better splitting performance than the 5, and the 4 (while outstanding for smaller tasks) can't compete with the bigger blade. The six is still small enough though where it shouldn't get in the way.

I did a ton of research, cause I was trying to decide between the same ones as you and I ended up going with the 6. I love it! just wish I there was more reason to use such a big knife, mine spends most of its time in a bug out bag :(

I do alot of backpacking and camping so I plan on using this blade for a ton of wood working. Ill put it through the paces thats for sure.

I own both but honestly while my 5 has more fieldtime I feel that between the 6 my izula and my Bahco laplander that I am completely covered in the wood processing department.

I have a Izula, Esee 3-mil, 4, 5 and 6 and love them all. Esees are design-built, so really look at your purpose and that will point you to the best one. I love the 5 personally, but of those you mentioned and for the purpose you mentioned, I would recommend the 6. Hope this helps.
