Lately I've been obsessed with the ESEE Izula 2. Do I need another knife? Nope, but I want... I want... like all of us... I want....

I have a Spyderco Street Beat and I love it, it has a refined elegance that works for me. The I2 seems to be the SB's more rugged 'country' cousin. My SB serves as my desktop 'letter opener' at home (and occasional carry) and I was thinking that the I2 could serve the same role at my desk at work.

Yes, I know I'm posting in a knife forum, and the answer to any 'should I?' question about a quality knife is always.... YES!

So... talk me into (or out of) it.

The price is right.
ESEE's warrantee is awesome.
The size is right for desk or EDC.
The steel is okay (1095 with powder coat).

... anything else that I should know about???

The Izula 2 is a good knife. I prefer it with handles. I prefer the similar sized Bradford Guardian 3 though. Simply a beast, in a small package!

I love my izula! It works okay with a simple paracord wrap, just gets annoying to change it whenever it gets something nasty on it. I have the micarta scales that I dyed blue. It definately needs something to help fill the hand. It's a solid little blade that is easy to carry either on the belt, as a neck knife, or in pocket.

I have a couple and I front pocket carry mine. With a bit of thumb pressure the sheath flies off. The knife has the same cutting edge as a BM Mini Grip or Spyderco Delica, so you are getting ample knife. It is not a bad slicer, but not the greatest. It is a general use knife and will take some seriously hard use. It also works great as a grill knife.

I have a regular Izula, and have only held the Izula 2. I really like the extended handle on the I2 which seemed to be the biggest negative about the first Izula. I just wish they would have given the Izula 2 an extra half to three quarters of an inch of blade length. To me, the blade just seems way too short. Now if the I2 came in the toxic green I would snatch it up. BTW I would love to have that Street Beat!

I have one with TKC handles on it and while I think its a fine knife I find it to be a size I never use so it just sits around.
