I am considering purchasing a ESEE Izula. I want to attach it to my boot for when I go to my deerlease. Please post pictures of your ESEE Izula! I Would love to see how everybody has theres set up..

Get it. It's a great little knife that's versatile, strong and has great ergonomics. I either carry mine in my pocket in the stock sheath or around my neck via some paracord and heat shrink tubing.

Just after I stripped and patina'd it.

It looks a little different now; sporting a thin paracord wrap and a more developed patina.

does anyone feel like want a stainless izula?
I want an izula, but I do alot of light cutting work, so I'm in need of something harder/more stainless to wear under my shirt without worrying bout it's rusting...
still got no sign of folding izzie

I carry an Izzy 2 under my shirt rubbing against my skin all day long. Never had an issue with it corroding. I still have the micarta scales on mine, but the tang is coated so if you take the scales off, you'll still have the blade coating to protect the steel.

I'm getting less and less fond of SS now that I've gotten used to 1095, D2, A2, and the like. I prefer easy sharpening to a razor edge and high toughness more than extreme edge holding and corrosion resistance.

don't get me wrong I think D2 is good. And I still love the 1095. I had one bk14 and it's rusting on my chest right now, maybe I'm a sweaty guy...
the reason I want to get an Izzie with harder steel is that becuz I don't do much wood working or hard work, so toughness is not really issue to me ;)
And I think ESEE should make a stainless Izula for some guys who have to live/survive near the ocean, an call it the Piranha instead of Izula :P
just my thought...
And 1095 works well for me, but I have to sharpen it like every night since I do a lot of cardboard cutting

IIRC, there's a thread on the ESEE forum now about a SS Izzy. I haven't been over there for a few days, but I'm sure I saw one. Might want to check it out and see if they have an update on it.

I cleaned up the flat grind/cutting surface on mine. Not quite a perfect mirror polish, but pretty close. :) Thinned out the edge a bit as well, and now it is a helluva slicer! Good heat treat on this knife too, I must say.

It's a pretty darn handy knife. Very comfortable in the hand considering its small size and plain-jane handle, and very well built.

What Barkie is that, STS-3? They're all nice. Good job on the Izzie.

I can relate to your concern about sweat. a mate of mine palyed guitar in a band & was always changing the pickups due to them corroding from his sweat. some sweat is just more corrosive than others.
