ESEE Junglas and Becker Combat Bowie

Well as Yogi Berra once said,"You can observe a hell of a lot just by looking". I went over to the Becker forum and they have a page with all the specs of the old BK-9s and the newer ones. The old ones were thicker at .21" and the newer Ka-Bar ones are .187" thick. I guess my old brain still retains some trivia after all.

Nice review HD. Both of those are on my wish list (I'm desperate to get into Beckers, but the Rat Pack make me want to complete my ESEE collection too bad).

The results don't surprise me: just the shape of the Junglas' handle is suited to chopping, whereas the Combat Bowie is more all-purpose. Still, good to see that both are good at what they do.

personally I think the handle on the bk9 would allow it more chopping power if you choked down onto the 'ball' end of the handle..

I think I'll end up with both someday anyhow as they are awesome knives..

Just don't combine the BK-9 + Large Watermelon + cheap chopping board + bringing the BK-9 for a nice chop (aiming to go through maybe 3/4 of the watermelon). The BK-9 has enough weight to give it more momentum than you would have on you normal kitchen knives and if you are like me it will be 'scary sharp'

Hence:

Twice as many cheap plastic chopping boards, but half as big.

MAN !!! you forgot to leave the BK in that picture:eek:

that is funny, now you have two cutting boards.. l

Well, we all know what a BK-9 looks like:

Yep, that's my chopping board halving baby!

I actually have 3 cutting boards - two small plastic ones and a new wooden one that I bought after cracking the plastic one in two with one mighty blow of my knife.
