Esee lite machete vs. fiddleback machete

Nice ascot, 42.

:D

Moose

It's a bandanna. ;) But I do have a cotton cravat that I wear in colder weather with collared shirts. Ascots are gaudy and have a very silly name. :D The neckerchief is quite handy for keeping bugs off my neck, actually.

And yes--I'm fond of incorporating certain neo-Victorian elements into my daily dress.

Mostly I just don't want to look like an idiot if I bust it. :p

It's a Friedrick Dick 14" "chopping/hacking knife" for professional butchers. Stainless full flat grind with a broad blade and springy heat treatment. I've chopped some stuff with deliberate lateral tear-out without any edge damage so far. Just gotta really pound on it (including batoning) to make sure it'll hold up.

Hold on--I'll snap some quick webcam shots.

that is an awesome knife! wantwantwant. Personally I couldn't afford any of the machetes in question, but my ontario camp 12" has been amazing so far! if I could choose out of the two listed I would absolutely go fiddleback! no question at all. A) its the same blade manufacturer, so really the handle and price is the question, no offence to esee here, but fiddleback is a smaller maker, so supporting them is cooler to me and they make WAY nicer handles, also to me that esee just seems sooooo overpriced for what they are doing. I get the junglas price, but the lite machete at that price! latin america must laugh themselves wet when they see people wielding those

They have to laser-cut the tangs to precise dimensions to match the CNC-machined recesses in the scales. It's the only hidden-tang production machete with a micarta handle. Takes a lot of machine time, so that's the reason for the price. That feature isn't important to everyone, but very much appreciated by some.
