Esee mods. Scandi grind.

It's not that I had great trouble using it for bushcraft tasks, like fire prep, splitting small pcs, shelter building and so on.

It works. But not near as well as my Scandi ground knives like my bush monkey.

Right now when I am heading out to camp or run my trap line I grab the knife I am most confident in, and that is not the esee. But I want it to be.

That I'd why I'm looking at modding it.

I am curious how various grind angles effect performance too. Make small changes at first and try them out. Belt sanders are around $100 and alot of people sharpen thier knives with them. If you never are satisfied with its performance it will still be really sharp when you sell or trade it. Please share your findings.

Forgive me I don't know a lot about this. I'm still learning.

For my purposes a Scandi grind has proven more useful than a flat grind with a secondary.

My father made a custom kydex sheath for this knife so I am s little partial towards it. But as it is I have other knives that are more functional, namely a mora and a bush monkey( don't care or want to hear what you think of him or his knives.)

I want to mod this esee in a way that makes it functional for me.

Maybe a convex would be better?

The people on this forum tend to be very specific with the right terms used for describing knives, which is a good thing if you know alot about knives.
The bad thing about it is that its very easy to mix the different terminology up for newcomers.

What I hear you saying is:
The Mora you have cuts very well. You think this is because of the angel of the bevel, it is a lower angle then your esee.

You ask:
If you can sharpen you esee's secondary bevel at the same angle. So it will have the same angle at the edge, as your Mora.

If I'm hearing this correctly, then the answer is:

Yes you can. this is called "thinning the edge" and have nothing to do with a scandi grind.
Most people here puts a thinner edge on their blade, because it makes the blade cut a lot better.
