Is there a shortage on these?
Are they available to the US market only?
Has anyone reviewed this product? Even better, a Youtube video?

I've been watching this product for some 6 months or so now, and other than chatter on this forum, there seems to be no information about the product at all. If you want an RC5 with a serated edge you have to try to sell on the blade that comes with it, and there seems to be no way of international customers buying the product.

Anyone know if ESEE are going to open the product up to the market as a whole, or expand their blade options beyond plane edge stock?

I'll chime in that a serrated edge on an rc5 isn't how I would go with it.

It's available Intl, you just have to email them. It's not publicly advertised for intl shipping, because the shipping and customs suck, and they want to make sure you understand that.

I love mine. But I don't think you'll see this one taking off to retailers. Best bet, give mike an email.

Dizwolf, is getting it with the 6 the way to go? I'm on the fence

I had both the five and six previous to ordering the kit. I chose to get a second six. If your intent is in the woods, six for sure. If it's a trunk kit that may see more urban duty, the five isn't a bad choice

Rockywolf, I ordered mine last Monday night, Mike sent me an email Tuesday letting me know they got the order, and the rural mail carrier dropped it in my mailbox Saturday. The ESEE6 is awesome!

mbassoc2003 - the stated reason on the ESEE website for why they don't offer this to retailers is that they're basically selling it at wholesale from the website. If you added shipping (to the dealer) and even a marginal 20% markup to that for the dealer to make their overhead, you'd be looking at a $240-250 item (plus shipping, depending on the reseller)
I personally am fine with ordering "direct" on this.
One option is to order the ESEE-5SE that you want and then order just the kit sheath from Lost Mountain Iron Works, but again you're going to be spending a premium on it.
Another option is for you to find a friend who wants a plain edge ESEE5, buy both the kit and a serrated -5, then give your friend the plain edge knife.

Good advice. I'd actually like to build it out around the 4, just for fun. Think I'd be best suited with a six over the 5.

on their website, Lost Mountain says they will be doing an adapter sheath for the ESEE4. you might drop them a line.

i totally disagree my friend.. the back of the ESEE5 is thicker than the 6 for battonning/chopping/splitting woods.. i got both and find the ESEE5 a better wood knife.. at least for what i do in wilderness survival.. and love that knife.. its just something about holding a tank in your hand that make me smile

mbassoc2003 which country are you based in? If in Western Europe I might be able to help you out (if you're not in a hurry :D)

The six is better for all around bushcraft if that is your plan. KNIFEABILITY-a must for all humans

better how ? if the ESEE5 is too heavy, you can always lift some weight first.. get in shape..
please elaborate on your theory ? is it better because you own an ESEE6 ? we got so many bushcraft expert around here!

Hmmm this is getting good. I want the pack and all the goodies, but want to modify it for the 4, or one of my other knives. So I should man up, buy it and trade for the 4, or sell whichever I decide to get and buy the 4....and the beat goes on...
