ESEE vs Becker

this is a real hard one for me, I like the design of the beckers better but I like the finish and micarta you get with the esee's. the becker handle for me is just amazing, by far the most comfortable handle Ive ever held. the becker sheaths suck tho.

If you want to buy a knife then stuff around with it to make it perfect the becker is a good choice if you want to just buy a knife thats perfect as is get an esee.

my biggest problem with esee knives is the handles have no contour to them they are just slabs, they are comfortable and work perfectly fine but they could be better.

my biggest problem with beckers is the crappy sheaths, easy to buy an aftermarket replacment but hey.

so after ranting on for all this time I still cant say which one is better, its a compromise really, buy both and decide for yourself

I think thats a fair assessment. Both good knives but the handles work for different people.

I think the good thing about the ESEE, though, is that it should be very easy for you to add contouring to the scales. Just a few minutes with a file and that micarta will be nice and rounded. The stock setup works fine for me, but I've filed micarta on other pieces of mine before and it's quite easy. :)

Well everyone else here has given good explanations so heres my 2 cents, It basically comes down to price, Rowens manufaturing process is probably a little better then ka-bars, but how much money do you want to spend? you could darn near buy 2 beckers for the price of one Esee. Another knife to check out is the Ritter rsk mk2, it is a ritter/ becker colab that is manufatured by Rowen, To me personally it is a better built bk7 minus an inch. Still can't go wrong either way
