ESEE Zancudo

Great looking little knife. Can you tell me if it is possible to flick it open with wrist movement or is the blade held in place securely closed? Just wondering on the chances of being able to get one here and thats a big factor. Thanks!

I am hard pressed to open mine one handed at all! That detent is a beast. I have read that they are all that way, so you should not have a problem down under.

got mine yesterday, i also am a fan, i just hope they make a bigger one eventually

They already are....it will be the same size as the RAT 1, and will be called the "Avispa". In the meantime, enjoy the new scale colors that have just arrived at Knifeworks and KnifeCenter; foliage green, Desert Tan, Coyote Brown, and my fave, Digital Camo...

I am glad to see that they did all of the different handle colors.

I hope that they will do that with the larger model too.

I will wait for the larger model though.

Just gave mine away to a forum member who's buying a BM from me. Hope he likes it. When I heard about a larger one I decided to part with it. Funny
thing....I prefer the RAT II over the larger Model but I want the larger Zancudo over the small one.:o

Postman just dropped off the Esee Avispa. My first impressions are very favorable.

I am seriously considering getting one. I like the blade shape better than the rat models. I just hope the quality/value is as high. The lock up seems kinda late, does that concern you?

Lockup on mine is quite early, about 20%.

Overall I like the Zancudo much better than the RAT 1. The handle ergos are better, it's a framelock and the clip slips on and off of your pocket better. Better blade shape for me too.

At first the detent was ridiculous strong and I could barely ever flick it out, but after deconstructing the knife and loosening the framelock a bit it's much better. And I was also able to keep the blade nicely centered.

With a little tweaking it's probably the best EDC knife available for $30, especially with the cool color options.

The fit and finish are very similar to the Zancudo. Lockup on mine is good with no blade play. It feels better in my hand than the Rat folder. I like the blade shape much better too. The detent is strong though. If you don't like the string detent on the Zancudu you won't like it on the Avispa.

Nice review man! I like the handle shape on this one better than the RAT folder. I had every intention of getting one at Blade...then Patrick showed me this one, so now I am back in wait mode :)
