EsKabar sheaths are definitely not tight like the BK2

I just received a new EsKabar (I sent my previous to Sh@rp in trade for handles) so I thought I'd spend some time cord wrapping the handle until the new handles are done. As I was finishing up the last line, the blade popped out and I did the immediate "oh shit" hand whip motion. Needless to say, if anyone states their EsKabar comes with a less than razor sharp edge, I'm calling b.s. - this edge is sharper than the devil's tongue. I didn't even feel my skin separate. Long story short, the blade pops out of the sheath rather easily.

The Eskabar claims another victim. You'll heal though.

I rewrapped mine last weekend. After all the getting cut while wrapping stories, I bar clamped the blade to the arm of a chair. I could then use both hands to wrap and not worry about getting bit.

Yeah, you'd think I'd learn. I have probably cut every possible surface of both my hands over the years and every time I go to do something I say to myself, I won't make the same mistake again...

The best way to learn is the hard way. It tends to stick better so you don't forget :D

X2 painters tape, I put two layers on when I'm messn' around. Those little Beckers like the taste of blood!

Speaking as a guy still recovering from an Eskabar bite (while wrapping), you *know* we need pics, right? I'll show you mine if you show me yours... er something.

You should probably not mess with Moras then. If you thought THAT was sharp.....I have 4 Mora scars just on my left hand....from TWO incidents!

Mine is just a slight cut, nothing worthy of showing off, just makes typing a biznitch.

Yeah dude, I haven't needed stitches for any of my cuts for a long time. I may not have learned to tape the blade yet, but damn, I definitely will from now on, having seen your frankenthumb.

Well, I can see that I need to speed up my safety thread. I'll try to get it done this weekend, ya'll keep your fingers and toes until then. :D

Excellent. Have been hoping you would make one.

I'd received mine that could not even cut through paper

rich, hate to hear that, brother. It may have a burr on it. You might try hitting it a few times with a strop, and see if that doesn't do better.

I rarely leave the factory edge on my blades, it just seems, weird. I know how I like the edge, so, after an hour or two of "fondling", I square them away.

Let us know how it turns out.
