EsKabar sheaths are definitely not tight like the BK2

I have read of so many people being bit by these Eskabars! I cannot wait to get one, but I will pass on the biting if possible. Haha.

rich, hate to hear that, brother. It may have a burr on it. You might try hitting it a few times with a strop, and see if that doesn't do better.

I rarely leave the factory edge on my blades, it just seems, weird. I know how I like the edge, so, after an hour or two of "fondling", I square them away.

Let us know how it turns out.

thanks
since I'm not in America, and the postage to the State is high, I'd it regrined and strop already.

I bet the Esky and Izzy have more stitches attributed to them than any other 10 blades combined. I don't get it - the SE board used to be loaded with Izzy cut threads.

Do people just not respect a small fixed blade as being dangerous or is there a multitasking problem when trying to tightly cord wrap a knife and control the edge at the same time?

Are these smaller knives a 'gateway' from folders into fixed blades?

Do people just like to play around with these little knives?

I keep looking for some sort of trend or commonality in why everyone gets cut with these knives, nothing yet...

it is probably that they are used significantly more because of their handy size. I carry and use my esky everyday, but the bk2 stays at home. I'd bet that the amount of cuts are proportional to the amount of use.

Nah, they get bit because of the handle wrapping that goes on. Something about that handle shape, when you tie the last knot, and pull it tight, the blade jumps out. Happened to me, but I had the edge taped. Go figure.

That's exactly it, for some reason it's the last knot that does me in. Thinking back, when I received my first EsKabar from Tomar's, I wrapped it in blue paracord like yours Moose (remember I totally dug that center line in the wrap?) and cut my left hand across 3 fingers. Fast forward a few months and the second EsKabar I bought from Tom bit me too. So strange it's only the last knot that makes it jump. So now when I buy a third EsKabar, that sucker is getting taped.

Yep. That's exactly when my bite occurred - first major knife incident in probably 25 or 30 years for me.
