Estate Sale #3 – SOLD

As I said in my other Estate Sale posts, my wife’s uncle recently passed away and I have been asked to sell off his knife collection for the estate. He had several custom knives, which for purposes of hopefully making this as easy as possible for the estate. As with the other estate sales, this sale with be “As-is” and final with no returns. I will pay the shipping, handling, insurance, and fees.

Estate Sale #3 consists of one Dietmar Kressler knife which was originally purchased from A.G. Russell Knives. In researching this knife, I found the following write-up from the A.G. Russell website at https://agrussell.com/knife/A-G-Russell-Chute-Knife--RU-TC975-ER which references the making of this knife by Dietmar Kressler;

“I designed this knife in 2001 to be made by Dietmar Kressler, absolutely the best knifemaker in Europe at the time. We asked Dietmar to make 100 pieces and limited it to that quantity. In the end, he made only 75... After we sold out of the limited edition knives (the last one at $2,195), I began work on a drop forged version that we could sell for a reasonable price...”

AGR’s version of this knife is called the “Chute Knife”, but is identical in appearance to the original Dietmar Kressler “Combat Fighter” knife. In an undated site from Nordic Knives, this same Dietmar Kressler knife was sold as an “Integral Chute” knife for $1,995 (https://nordicknives.com/ProductGal/19278 ), and in 2008, this knife was sold from Arizona Custom Knives as an “Integral Fighter” knife for $2,500 (https://www.arizonacustomknives.com/knives-by-maker/kressler-dietmar.html?p=3 ). There is another reference on SOCNET from 2005 which states that AGR still had the Dietmar Kressler knife available for sale for $2,495 (http://www.socnet.com/showthread.php?t=53941 )

Based on clues to the age of the packing slip found with this knife, I believe it was purchased by the uncle when these knives were first released, which would have been sometime between 2001-2003. The original purchase price was $1,995, but to help expedite a sale for the estate, the selling price for this knife is SOLD. To be sold to the first person committed to meet the selling price.

I am not an expert on custom knives, but to the best of my knowledge and observation, this knifes appears to have never been worn, used, or sharpened. The knife appears to be in new condition and does not appear to have any damage or wear. However, due to the age of this knife, the snap on the sheath did have some oxidation (green) presumably from the copper/brass used in the snap, and there does appear to be a light scratch parallel to the hilt on the logo side of the knife (visible in the picture), and some possible faint discoloration streaks on the blade (visible in the point view picture) but I have not done anything to try to buff or polish the blade.

The knife for sale in this lot is as follows (see attached pictures):

AGR catalog# KR-2003ER (no longer available): see the AGR write-up at the link above. Dietmar Kressler Combat Fighter – Ebony Rucarta – limited to 100 pieces (only 75 made?). I cannot confirm this as a fact, but one reference did state; “This knife is made of RWL34 Swedish powder stainless steel with a Rockwell of 62-64 Rc. Measures 9-1/2" tip to butt with a 5-1/4" hand ground blade. Hand sewn brown leather sheath.”

Total selling price for this knife = SOLD with free S&H
