So, usually by the time I get there all of the knives have been grabbed up or the family only leaves the bad ones for the estate sale.
But this time, these beauties were still hanging around.
Both are Hen and Rooster brand, I'm still trying to figure out the ages. The hens and roosters on the tang stamps of the four blade one are different from one another, each design indicating different years of manufacture, weird. Some designs indicate prior to 1981, some indicate post 1981. This is my first mother of pearl knife, man that stuff is beautiful! The two blade one I think is definitely prior to 1981.
Here they are.......
(Darn photobucket won't seem to let me orient the pics correctly, they do that sometimes, I'll do better next time, sorry:o)

Couple of nice ones. Hen & Rooster are usually marked Bertram Cutlery post 1980. Since yours have no shield (early knives didn't) I'm guessing these are from the short period when A.G. Russell controlled the brand and production.
I am a big fan of pearl covers and Hen& Rooster used some with great color. That stag one is also a beauty. Great finds.

Man, those are sweet! Great finds.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. And thanks Charles for the info. The MOP is marked Bertram which I think is the telling mark. This probably indicates it was made after 1980. I've heard the later knives aren't as good, but the build quality is really nice so I'm thinking it was built under A.G.'s ownership.

The stag on the half stockman is awesome (I think that is the same model that Carl gifted to fatcorgi.) Love that pattern...2015 forum knife anyone?

Yeah that is the same one as the one Carl gave me, under the Guttmann brand. Great pattern. It is so nice to see those ones in nice mint condition, expecially that stag. Maybe the congress is a composite of leftover parts? I think some of the post 1980 ones were made by Klaas.

Good scores.I'm jealous.
I went into an "antique" shop on Saturday. There were a couple of old Sheffield England scout type knives. They were so rusty as to be beyond help and the covers were falling off. Unfortunately the price tag was that of a brand new Northfield prototype! I mean these were knackered and ready for the bin.

Great finds, two stunning knives
