Nobody else understands my excitement so I thought I'd share it here.

Just got the email from Brett that my grinder is on it's way from Oregon. This will be replacing my 2x42 and I can't wait to get it set up and try it out. I've got 144" of 3V ready to go, new belts hanging on the racks, a piece of glass for the platen and a new bench built for it. Just got to clean up the mess in my garage from rearranging stuff and I'll be set.

Again, had to share with somebody...that is all... :)

I know the feeling. Im waiting on my Pheer grinder. I feel like a kid on Christmas eve. :) Happy grinding!

Please post photos. I am sure it will be great. What attachments did you get for it?

I will make sure to take pics of it when it arrives and if it's wanted I'll add in my thoughts about it initially.

PTDoc - For now I got the platen (he uses the Bader Platen setup) and the double small wheel attachment that he makes. I also ordered a 5/8" and 1" wheels for the small wheel attachment and a 2" wheel that I can replace the top wheel of the platen assembly with to grind on. I'd like to get an 8 or 10" wheel down the road as well as an extra tool arm but this will get me going. Even with the time spent in switching attachments I know I will be FAR ahead time wise of what it took to grind on my 2x42.

I primarily have done and want to do flat and convex grinds so the larger wheel would mainly be for grinding out the profiles.

Very excited for you my friend, Brett is a friend and mentor of mine, and the grinder you purchased is of the highest quality. You will not be disappointed that is for sure..The best bang for your buck. Get the tool arm asap with your platen youll enjoy profiling your blades a lot more!

I got mine from Brett back in March. Fantastic machine and Brett is a great guy. I also picked up an 8" wheel, his small wheel attachment, his tool rest, and eventually two extra arms from him.

I would highly recommend picking up his tool rest, as the stock Bader one is pretty lame. His is really nice and solid, adjustable. Having arms for all of my attachments is definitely great, but it is a luxury I could manage without (and did for a while). Takes all of 45 seconds maybe to swap. Though, compound that over multiple swaps a day, and you will definitely end up wanting one. I didn't expect to use the 8" wheel all that much, but I don't think I could do without it for profiling anymore. Impossible to bog down even on my 120V setup, and it just rips material off with a 36 or 60 grit belt.

Also, good to see you picked up glass for the platen. It dishes very quick, and the radius isn't the same on both sides. I struggled with the stock Bader platen for a couple of months before finally modifying mine, and I'm glad I did. Instantly improved my grinds and lowered my blood pressure.

Regardless, you have very good reason to be excited. You'll love it :)
