Finished up the axe over the weekend. And just finished up the sheath today.

I've never seen a mod on an Estwing axe before. I like it. What kind of coating did you apply?

That's about the coolest thing I have seen created with something that can be purchased at Home Depot. Nice work; I was just talking about how I would like to make a pack size axe/hatchet, thanks for the inspiration.

That look's great, What did you use a CNC Mill ? It look's like something done from a Tool & Die Shop, Thank's for sharing the picture's,

Good work!

1. Is it really as yellow as the pictures make it?
2. How did you deal with the temper? Keep it cool while shaping, or re-heat treat afterwards?

The cut where done with a water jet so the steel did not get hot, nor have to worry about messing up the temper.
Pic are making more yellow than it is. Color is ultra flat tan.
This is the second Estwing I have done.
Anyone want to see my first mod?

Would love to see some before and after pic's :) did you start with a E45A?

I don't have any before pics.
The black cord wrap/ tan axe started life as a camper's axe E44A.
The Leather wrap was a camper's axe long handle E45A.

Second one is my favourite, and boy its cool! Please post me!
