I have their long-handled rock pick and use it on ice and frozen ground in the wintertime. Great tool.
Well, sort of. I have taken numerous geosci courses, and I work with a group of planetary scientists. Rock hammers and a handlens travel in the car, except for local trips. I live where the bedrock is Ordovician-Silurian and work in a place dominated by Proterozoic low-grade metamorphic rocks and what turns up on maps as QAL.
(Trans: Wisconsin and central Arizona.)
To return to the thread, I'm impressed by the looks and durability of stacked-leather handles (when properly maintained), whether knives, hammers, hatchets, or whatever. But I have to say the nylon is easier on the hands for rock hammers, especially if you need to whack at some tough stuff, like basalt (volcanic rock).

Mine has a drawing made by a fellow geologist, very humorous guy, who made a little drawing of Trotski's murder in the hands of the Spaniard (Catalan he was, in fact) Ramón Mercader using a Piolet.
It was one of my best friends and I decided to stick the drawing on my Estwing as a reminder of good old times bashing and cracking rocks in the mountains...

I don't why the harsh comments? Nothing wrong with that Estwing hawk.
Nobodies holding a forged spike hawk adorned with eagle feathers, and victory notches, and blood of their enemies, and pieces of feather stick to your throat?
No reason to make or try make anyone feel bad because they bought something less expensive, and just as effective!
Are you trying to say the only soldiers saved by a Hawk used RMJ's?
I like RMJ's everything... I like high quality things, but I also like high quality affordable things...
Ok, I'm Canadian so I'm sorry to sound too harsh.
It's just not cool to bash someone for buying a cool piece of inexpensive gear, just because you can afford more.

Who cares what "Mall Ninjas" buy? Mall Ninjas keep almost every manufacturer of stuff we like in business.
There are just not that many Top Black Ops Swat types compared to the the rest of the public.
As an older guy who has made mistakes, I want to pass along any info to try help others from making the same mistakes, or wasting money like a I did.
