And the SOCFK and a Specwar are extremely similar in handle shape. Their blade shapes also come in A or B designs. As did the Raven. The 15 is simply a Commander with the tanto tip of the 7.

A lot of Emerson designs are similar. Sometimes the slightest change creates an entirely new product!

Heard that a lot, but to me there is almost no similarity to a Commander other than a very mild recurve. Entirely different grip shape, and the Commander's have a pronounced "drop" to the blade - not so the 15. Commander's have a huge belly, the 15 very little belly.

That said, I love both.

Yeah I mean I see your point.

My Christmas gift!

I'm a lefty. How difficult is it to open an ETAK with you left hand? I find the Tiger to be extremely difficult to open with my left hand. The CQC8 and Patriot are a breeze.

Gotta say this because its bothering me. The ETAK is essentially a Super CQC-7. If i was more handy with computers id make some kind of Gif showing them transform into one and other. The ETAK just has a longer guard on the front and the back, and essentially the same handle shape in the middle, also the blade tip on the tanto version is just longer and slightly more skewed than the CQC-7. Not a fan, i think i like the 7's blade shape better, handle and well everything better than the ETAK.

I have to completely disagree with you. The CQC-7B has a very abrupt yokote and distinct swedge. The yokote of the ETAK-B isn't as pronounced as the 7B is. Also consider the grip designs. The CQC-7 is more user friendly in a daily use environment. The ETAK however lends itself for a more hammer-oriented grip.

The ETAK is about the same as the Tiger.

I actually think the ETAK (mine at least) is a lot easier to thumb open, RH or LH. The Tiger has a "point" in the grip (where the index finger nestles in with a forward grip) that gets fairly close to the thumbdisk when the blade is closed. The ETAK is a lot more wide open there. I find that a bullet disk is a great upgrade to the Tiger for that reason.

Thanks for the pics OM, the ETAK does look a lot easier to thumb open.

You're welcome. I'll add that both the ETAK and Tiger (especially the ETAK) are two of the most effortless "wavers" of all EKI designs. I've only had my ETAK a few days, and I can easily wave it with so little energy that I can do in nearly silently - no THWACK.

I'll have to take a closer look at the ETAK-A I got to see but had both in my hands this morning and seemed quite similar to me. Your ETAK-B is quite open along the back to get at that thumbdisc. Both models certainly do Wave exceptionally well. Nice pics as always OM!
