I upgraded my etching process about 6 months ago and no longer use the etch-o-matic. It works fine and I want someone who needs one to have it.

I only ask that you let someone get it that really cannot afford to buy it themselves, and is at a point that they will be marking knives for sale in the near future.

PM or email your addess and I will mail.

The kit is in the box and complete except the little bottle of etch solution, I currently use 1 cup of water, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of tsp. Others have formulas they have posted or you can order a bottle from the link below.

I'd love it but I have to admit I'm not going to be in a position to mark knives for sale for a while.
Very generous of you, though. This is such a cool community!

Wow! Very Generous donation to some inspiring knifemaker! That gift will make someone a happy camper. Patrick which new machine did you upgrade with? I have a Marking Methods machine that I purchased in the early 80's, still going strong.

I Would love to have it if i may. Im just finishing my 1st knife. Done with files
hacksaw and sandpaper.

Just a few minutes earlier, and I would have loved to have this kit. I've sold a few knvies, right' now I'm selling them at cheap prices just to get the practice at making in. about $20 in profit per knife. Oh Well, Enjoy it FOG2, and good luck in your knife making endeavors.

Thanks Jeff and the same to you. I need to heat treat and put the final edge on it.Evyrone who has handled it (with the scales temp. attached) says it feels GREAT in the hand and will be an awesome tool. Its a Wharnie made of A2 w/Cocobolo scales 9in overall and flatground.
I,ll post pics in a few days for reviews an suggestions

Are you HT'ing yourself or sending it off?
It sounds like a nice knife for utility/camping at that size, and flat grinds look really nice I think. Looking forward to the Pics,
Jeff

Well looks like FOG2 will get it, email your address and I will get into the mail tomorrow. By the way there are some unused resist sheets so you will be able to make a templete when you get it, all you need is some wetting solution.

I built the Chris Reeves machine from his tutorial, it works great. The Etch-O-Matic worked good but with limited power it took more testing to get set up for different steels.

Patrick, your generousity is unsurpassed ( he wouldnt even let me pay for shipping) Thank you very much !
If you have any hints for using the etching system on A2 plz pass them along.
Jeff i have a Knifemaker who lives close who has offered to do the H/T for me,and spent time with me to impart his Knowledge.Helping me to get started
in something i knew nothing about a short time ago.
Knife folks seem to be some VERY nice people.WAYYY ABOVE the level of most folks.

The knife im making was inspired by Bose desktop style knives.
Tho this one is a more rugged style (as will be seen in the pics) In my opinion it would make a great carver tho its oversized for that style of knife.
