Etch resist question?

Hey on the Hydrochloric you might try wrapping it with teflon pipe thread tape. You would need to tye the end some how but it stretches and forms to stuff real well and it should not eat away. Would not work on a full tang of course

Just a thought but what about the wax that lumber mills use to seal end grain to stop the cracking. it's paintable, white and easy to see, and not expensive. Its available on ebay and several other sites. Don't know if it will work, but maybe

I know a guy who would mask off the scales on damascus slip joint folders and etch the whole thing  Made my skin crawl when he told me this but seemed to work pretty good for him.

I prefer to disassemble, etch all parts and reassemble.

gentlemen i like everyone else prefer to etch everything first and put all the part's back together where they belong but sometimes you forget to etch the handle ..don't ask how i know ..

Matt how do you know? :D well that is the boat I am in I have a knife that I finished and forgot to etch, so I want to thank everyone for there tips.
