Etching........ AC or DC?

I did it. take a look HERE

Cool, thanks. So, realistically, all you need is an AC output and a DC output from a leftover converter (or even a battery if you don't mind buying new ones).

I'm poor, so if I can save the $50 it would take to piece a "real" etcher together I will.

eminart your an art major wow i wish i could draw. I collect art and some bronze works im mostly into native north american indian and wildlife stuff. I follow and collect terpnings stuff ,frank mccarthy, ace powell, nancy mcglaughlin to name a few.Ihave a real old from the late 40s early 50s bronze end of the trail replica james frazier. Ide like to see your stuff. I you should do one of 2 things buy a etch omatic for 70 bucks or make one for 60. I bought the etch o matic , it had impact type stencils you can scribe on to reveal the imiage you want or use a old dot matrix printer and front page to design what you want. Most people dont have your talent so use it to your advantage. If i was you i de look into buying the tools needes to to scribing and inlays in ivory or what ever . You can make alot of money doing scrimshaw work, seriously. kellyw

surely the etchomatic or similar machines are better and more handy but with my set-up I get perfect (crisp, deep and black) marks.
I'll never buy something that I can do for free with a little work... but this is my attitude.

I still have to solve the stencil problem. make my own a good stencil is almost impossible but I'm still trying
