Etching Aluminium

Hello All,
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to etch Aluminium without acid? Would saltwater etching work?
Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you

Electro-etching? OR - what type of etching? Where are you located? Fill you profile a bit to give us a bit of knowledge about yourself and location. That really helps with offering advice and suggestions.

Im from Cleveland, Ohio, and have a background in jewelry and metalsmithing from Bowling Green State University. I have never worked with Aluminium however I am working on a piece where I need the surface of the aluminium to have a slight tooth on it like sand blasting or etching.
Currently I dont have access to a sand blaster, but I can etch.
my question is, how to etch aluminium? Would saltwater etching work? I think ferric chloride would work, however the piece im working on is roughly 16"x12" and id prefer not to deal with that amount of ferric chloride. Suggestions?!!?
 
eagle one mag wheel etching cleaner (make sure its the etching one as there are a few eagle one wheel cleaners )
i use it to clean all my Ti parts before anodizing
