Hey guys! when I do a hamon I like a really dark popping hamon and I like to use FC to get that but I was wondering how long do you all leave your blades in the etchant?(whatever type of etchant you like

to use) and how polishi it after it could out of the etchant? I have done this before I am simply curious about how others do things.

One could write books about making and developing a hamon....Oh, wait! there are already many books on the subject.

Just kidding, but developing a hamon is a complex subject.t relies on the steel,HT, and hamon type. Use the BF search engine and read some of tge many threads on the subject:

The best starter advice is to use very dilute solutions. FC at 10:1 to 20:1 ratios, HNO3 at 100:1, lemon juice, 3% white vinegar, etc. Having a kit of polishing compounds is also important. Flitz is very useful, as are the powdered oxides of iron/tin/chrome/cerium.
