I have etched several blades with no problem. I etch the logo on a new blade and got a unwanted mark on the blade.

I tried not to use to much etchant, but is that what cause the mark? I rubbed it down with 0000 steel wool and it is a bit better but is there a better way to remove it?

Sorry for the pict but the lighting was not cooperating

The logo is only etched. I did not darken it.

I use more etchant than less. I have similar happen when I try to stretch my stencil too far; small cracks in the stencil caused it in my case.

I think that is it David.

Thanks, looking at my stencil it looks a little less smooth. Washed it with some windex and it became apparent quickly it was past its usefulness.

BTW. How did you like the lightening storm the other day? It was hard core down here

I always clean my stencils really well after each use but they are like belts we always want to keep using the old ones instead of grabbing a new one heh.

We will have to meet sometime! Up here we just had rain and felt cold enough to snow with the wind off of Wrightwood.

I was able to clean off the the unwanted mark with a green scotch brite pad. I had tumble the blade with ceramic medium but the scotch brite was able to get it off without changing the finish much. :)

I've used 4,000 grit polishing paper to clean up stray marks but it didn't work so good on some finishes. Good to know about the Scotchbrite. Snowed like heck Fri and Sat up here.

@Adam - the lightining was right over our heads. Simultaneous lightning and extraordinarily sharp cracks of thunder! Woohoo! Call you at work today?

We are gonna have to hook up for lunch sometime. I have a full schedule at the office and my secretary kicks my ass if I fall behind chatting with my friends :)
